John January 24, 2018 for Model Number WTW5200VQ2 Our washer won't agitate. I have replaced the agitator dogs and it still won't agitate. I jumped the lid switch so I could watch it while running. The agitator seem to work. I hand hold it through the entire cycle with no resistance. I thought that the teeth on the bottom of the agitator might be striped but they are still good
1 Answer John, The likelihood of a damaged agitate shaft is possible, but a little remote. You may want to try this first. You need to be careful,, remove the complete agitator assembly from the tub. Allow the washer to fill and agitate. Using a shop towel or rag, grasp the top portion of the shaft (the splined area) and see if you can hold the shaft still. If you can stop the shaft from oscillating, then you'll need a transmission/gear case. If the shaft continues to oscillate, you'll need a new agitator assembly. Read More...

Sam May 13, 2017 for Model Number LSQ9659LW0 Got the agitator out of washing machine and pulled the two sections apart, installed a new whirlpool cam repair kit part number 285809 into top part, but there are four taps the the bottom section has that seem to go into four slits on the plastic cam repair kit. I can't get tabs into slits, but in your video you have the same slits but don't push bottom tabs into these slits. Do i have to somehow put bottom tabs into these slits or not. That seems to be how the two pieces were held together before, if so any tips on getting the tabs through these four slits without breaking plastic repair kit. I already broke one trying to get the two pieces together.
1 Answer Sam, You would just slide the cam kit into the agitator and then put the bolt back into place as it will be what holds the assembly in place. Read More...

Tom E April 01, 2016 for Model Number LSC9000PW2 Have the agitator out, having trouble separating the upper from the lower. There are 4 plastic tabs just above the dog assembly that are bent over. I think this is what is keeping the parts from coming separating. Should I take a Dremel tool & grind some of the tabs down to help separate the agitator pieces? What is the P/N for the part with the protruding tabs in case I need to replace that part?
1 Answer Tom, Set the agitator on the floor and place your feet on either side. Once you do this you will then pull straight up on the top of the agitator. This should allow it to release. If you do cut the tabs off you would need to replace the lower agitator . Read More...
Mom January 23, 2016 for Model Number WTW5500SQ0 Watched video, very helpful until I tried to separate the agitator into two parts. I have had two people trying to pull the top while standing on the bottom like it shows in the video, it will not come apart, like its really stuck together, although it will move up about 1/16 of inch but i think that is normal. Has anybody else had this problem? Any idea why they will not pull apart and what I can do?
1 Answer Hello Mom, The agitator should be removed from the washer and the top half will need to be "yanked" off from the bottom half. If you still cannot get it off, reach into the agitator tower with a screwdriver and find the four locking tabs, (hard to see since white on white), and apply pressure while unhooking them.
