Mb September 18, 2019 for Model Number PYET244AYW Normally when I open the dryer door the dryer will stop and the control knob has to be pressed to restart the dryer when the door is shut back. Now when the door gets shut again the dryer will automatically start back without pressing the control knob. Is this the door switch or possibly the timer?
1 Answer Hello MB, on this model design, it would indicate a stuck timer contact, the timer is part WP53-1810. Read More...
Mick June 12, 2016 for Model Number Maytag DE 303 I am replacing the door switch on an old Maytag DE 303 dryer. The new one is just supposed to pop right in. It is just held in by friction; no screws or other fasteners. I realize this part has to fit tightly to stay in place, but I am not succeeding in getting the new one in. The old one was very difficult to remove, but the new one seems impossible to insert in the slot. I know I have the right part. There must be some little tip for doing this because it looks so simple. Please help. Thank you.
1 Answer Mick, The door switch part number that you listed WP53-0148 is not showing as being the correct door switch for your unit. The part number that we are showing as being correct is W10169313. Read More...
Pjg December 24, 2014 for Model Number AYE1000AYW Our dryer does not stop running when we open the door. Otherwise, all is well.
1 Answer PJG, This would most likely be caused by a faulty door switch that is not allowing the unit to shut off when door opened. Read More...
Mike April 07, 2014 for Model Number PYG3200AWW Dryer does not start. have power. previous to not starting the dryer sometimes would take two cycles to dry the clothes. which parts do I need to replace.
1 Answer Hello Mike. You need to repair the vent and check the thermal fuse LA-1053. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Jack J. March 30, 2013 for Model Number maytag pye4558ayw On the door switch, the one side has a white wire, and the other has white and pink. I disconnected them to get the door out of the way, but as the female connectors were so different on the side with two poles, I didn't pay attention to which went where. But now I see that the male parts are the same, and I don't know which female connector goes closet to the door, and which to the drum. Any help?! Thanks!!
1 Answer Jack, On the door switch it should have Com, NO and NC. The white wire from the power supply would go on Com, the pink to NC and the other white to NO. Read More...
John H December 17, 2012 for Model Number model # pye2000ayw I need to check to see it my door switch on my dryer is defective by touching the wires connected to it but not sure which wires to touch. White wire on 1 side of switch and a pink wire and white wire on the other side Can you tell me
1 Answer Hello John, It is best to check the unit by using a multi meter to check continuity of switch rather than touching wires. You should have continuity between COM and NC until the switch is activated. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...

Mike August 17, 2011 for Model Number RF386PXGQ Whirlpool electric range We did the auto clean today and now we have a reading on the control panel that says E1 F5 and the door will not unlock. We tried unplugging it for a few minutes and it still does not work. How do we fix this? If you any suggestions or tips that would be appreciated. Thank you
1 Answer Hi Mike. Remove power. You Will need to reach in from the top sides with a stiff coathanger and release the door latch hook. The door switches are defective and need replaced. This part # is WPW10107820. The oven sensor was opened while in the clean mode also. This part # is WP8273340. Thank you. Read More...
Scott July 30, 2011 for Model Number pye4558ayw my question is, I have power to the dryer and replaced the timer push button does the door switch have a safety so that the push button knows when the door is cloed???? Thank You for your help
1 Answer Scott, You're on the right track, Yes the door switch has got to have a closed circuit, in order to start the machine, its not necessarily a safety, in the way you mean it. If your door switch circuit is correct, you need to check / repalce the hi limit thermal fuse assembly LA-1053 , if the thermal fuse opens due to a high heat situation, the dryer won't start as well. That component is located on the top of the heater assembly, under the dryer top in the rear left corner of the cabinet. Good Luck. Read More...
