Wendy October 11, 2012 for Model Number MER6770ACW Nothing will turn on. F11 code came up and we ordered new sensors, installed, according to control panel they should be working but no heat in elements or change in temperature. The burners on top still won't work either. Is there fuses or something I should look at?
1 Answer Hello Wendy, The F-11 fault code is telling you that the control is sensing a stuck key on the control panel 12001661. Since the surface and bake compartment circuits are completely separate after the terminal block, I would also check the 240Vac double breaker in the breaker box. If no problems are found there, I would next unplug the unit and inspect the power cord prongs that plug into the receptacle for burned spots. A burned spot is the indication that the receptacle is loose and will need to be replaced to prevent a fire hazard. If no problems are found there, the issue has to be at the terminal block where the power cord hooks to the unit electrically. Read More...
1 Answer Hello Steve, You either have a short that is providing a constant 120Vac across the element or the relay on the clock assembly 12001608 is stuck and the clock assembly will require replacement. If the element is just turning red, the unit should be checked for a short, (including the element as it can short to ground also). If the element is turning orange like it's turned all the way on, the clock assembly is at fault. Read More...
Sdf May 30, 2012 We turned off all the burners on our oven but the light that shows that the burners were off was on. We unplugged the whole oven and plugged it back in and the light was off. Could it be a short?
1 Answer Hello Sdf. If the unit was off, and the on light, not the hot surface light, was on, then when you turned the unit off, the light went off, you may have a bad switch on the unit. You will need to turn the switches on and off one at a time until you locate the switch with a bad pilot terminal and replace that switch WP7403P239-60. Read More...
Mr May 13, 2012 for Model Number MER6770AAB In the upper oven, we replaced the lower heating element becasue it was not turning on. Oven will initially heat to desired temp from top element, but does not maintain temp although the display still shows orginal temp. We are not receiving power to the lower element. Is this a part issue? If so, what part?
1 Answer MR, Since the bake element has been replaced, and does not heat, we're looking for two things, A damaged wire from the element down to the terminal block, a damaged wire from the element up to the control assembly, or a bad control 12001661. You'll need to move the range out and remove the back panel to check the wiring and the clock/ control. Good Luck and Thanks Read More...
Kmouse May 02, 2012 for Model Number MER5750AAA Right burner, smooth top unit when turned on goes to high heat. When you turn off the light indicator on smooth top stays on continuallly. Even after burner cools down. Brandi your live chat person thought it may be the switch infinite? Can you confirm please or do you suggest something else? Thank you
1 Answer Hello Kmouse. Yes, based on the information you provided, it sounds like the infinite switch WP7403P239-60 is bad on the unit. If there is no control on the temperature and the pilot light is staying on, it is the switch. With the switch turned off, test the terminal on the back of the switch labeled "P" for voltage. If it is there, the switch is bad. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Freddy April 16, 2012 for Model Number part#7403p239-60 I want to make sure that I wire this infinite switch correctly. Can you help me?
1 Answer Hello Freddy, Replace the wires one at a time and you won't cross them. Post a model number and we can tell you wire colors to the terminal numbers. We cannot look up a wiring diagram without the correct model number. Read More...
Anil February 01, 2012 for Model Number MER6770AAB Q1. This is Maytag dual oven range. The upper oven does not turn off even when the control panel shows that it is not on. What does it need? Q2. The light of the lower oven comes on randomly and stays on for a while. Turns off on its own. This happens often when the range is hot after being used. What does it need?
1 Answer Hello Anil. To repair both issues, you will need to replace the clock 12001661 and the overlay 74004543. Hope this helps. Read More...
Bill L. August 14, 2011 for Model Number MER5770AAA I have had to replace the 8 inch left rear burner and the dual 8 inch right front burner, because the elements had no continuity and could see the breaks. The two 6 inch burners and the dual 8 inch right front burner work just fine now.The problem is the left rear 8 inch burner does not come on at all and checked at terminal and do not have full voltage. I suspect the infinite swicth for that burner is bad?? Can you help ? I do think the infinte swicth is bad. Thank you
1 Answer HI Bill. Check the corresponding infinite switch L1 and L2 input voltage for 240vac. If it is there, then you will need to see if you have 240vac output at H1 and H2. If you turn the sw. on mid point, you should get this output. Then you will need to go to the burner and check for 240vac at the purple wires. Then disconnect the power and ohm the wires from the switch to the element to insure continuity of the wires. The infinite switch is part # WP7403P239-60. Thank you. Read More...

Floyd E. July 11, 2011 for Model Number MERH752BAW Model MERH752BAW S/N 15505884NE. The right front large burner seems to work ok on lower and highest settings, but on setting 8, the unit comes on for a few seconds then goes off for a few seconds continuously. I suspect that infinite switch is bad. Thought I would check with you before I ordered P/N AP4101874. Please advise, Thank you in advance.
1 Answer Hi Floyd. Yes it does sound like you do need the Infinite switch part # [AP101874]. Is your cooking pans flat on the bottom? you can use a level or a straight edge to check for gaps on your pan bottoms. This will make the element cycle much faster since during use you will have trapped heat in between the top of the stove and your pan bottom. Thank - you. Read More...
