Phil Oswald July 09, 2021 for Model Number 11086670800 Dryer starts when I push the button (door closed) but shuts off as soon as I let up on the start button. Heats and runs fine if I hold the button down all the time, but does not shut off at end of cycle
1 Answer Phil, Thanks for the question!!! You most likely cause is the start switch of the door switch. Check your door switch W10820036 for continuity when closed. If it is good then most likely the start switch failed. Read More...

Hank December 17, 2017 for Model Number LE7685XPwO Th a dryer start button busses when pushed but does not start the dryer. Is the switch bad or is it a fuse burnt out? Also, I can't pull the knob off of the start button. All of the videos say to pull the button off to start the replacement process.
1 Answer Hank, The start switch will most likely not be the cause of the buzzing but would be a bad start winding on your motor. Read More...
Tammy March 16, 2017 for Model Number Kenmore 70 series My dryer keeps running after we open the door. also, our light is not on. The only way to get it to stop is to turn the timer off. What part do we need to order?

Bob January 10, 2016 for Model Number 110.86880100 The motor went bad 279827, Replaced with new motor. Dryer still will not start and run. No sound, nothing, Checked the thermal fuse, it is blown, no continuity. Videos I have watched recommend replacing the cycling thermostat and thermostat heater. Is this necessary? I have looked at the push button start switch, It is a clear one, you can see inside of it. When you press it it does not make contact to the other terminal inside.
1 Answer Hello Bob, You will need to install the thermal fuse WP3392519 and the thermal cutoff 279769. The most important thing to do to prevent multiple failures is to verify the ducting. It requires a full four inch diameter duct from the rear of the dryer to outside atmosphere. Read More...
David April 24, 2015 for Model Number 96273800 Why was I given a different part number? The part number should be 279173, instead I was given part # 279150. Does this make a difference.
1 Answer David, We do show the part number for your switch should be 279173. Not seeing a part listed as 279150. If that is on the part itself then it is just a manufacturers number and should be the same. Read More...
Sharon S November 30, 2014 for Model Number 110.87872100 Our dryer will not run. There is power to the dryer. Removed the push to start switch. Read a question from another person who said he replaced the switch and it still doesn't run. You mentioned checking the fuse. Can you tell me where the fuse is located? Thank you.
1 Answer Sharon, The thermal fuse is located on the blower housing of the dryer. If you pull the unit out and remove the back panel, make sure that you disconnect power first. With the panel removed, the blower will be on the left side looking at it from the back and the thermal fuse will be on the housing. The part number for the fuse is WP3392519. Read More...
James October 23, 2014 for Model Number kenmore 110,87515110 My kenmore dryer just suddenly stopped. What could be wronge with it?
1 Answer Hello James. You need to check the thermal fuse WP3392519 and the door switch on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Marc V January 08, 2014 for Model Number LTE6234AW1 I received a replacement Push to Start switch 279173 since the dryer will not start or just momentarily sometimes. The replacement seems to be a universal replacement part, but want to be sure to connect the right terminals since the replacement has 3 terminals instead of 2 and a different shape. I'll need to mount with new bracket and create holes to attach to the control panel with metal screws. Neither bracket lines up the holes already in the control panel. Is the Black wire the CO terminal and White wire the NO terminal? 2nd question the rating for these switches is different. Old -1/3 HP 125 VAC 1/3 250 VAC verses New - 3/4 HP VAC 125 1 1/2 HP 250 VAC. Will that cause any problems?
1 Answer Marc, The White wire will be the CO and the black wire on the NO terminal for the switch. And the variation of the numbering on the switch will not cause any issues with your unit. Read More...
Keith F February 19, 2013 Part 692021 was replaced with part 279173. I have one black wire and one white wire, and three terminals. One marked com, one marked nc and one marked no. The wiring instructions say to disregard terminal # 3. So which terminal gets the black wire and which gets the white wire.
1 Answer Hello Keith, Com would have white wire and NO will have black wire. NC is the terminal that will not be used. Read More...
