The Dispenser Motor and Switch Assembly is an OEM component for Whirlpool washing machines. It operates the detergent and softener dispensers during the wash cycle. The dispenser motor and switch assembly work together to open and close the dispenser drawers at precise times, ensuring detergent and softener are released in the drum at the appropriate phases for optimal cleaning performance.

Causes of a bad dispenser motor and switch assembly can include electrical failures, wear and tear from regular use, or damage from water exposure. These factors can cause the motor to burn out or the switch to malfunction, disrupting the dispensing process.

Symptoms of a bad Dispenser Motor and Switch Assembly include:

  • Detergent or fabric softener not dispensing
  • Unusual noises from the dispenser area
  • Washer displaying error codes related to the dispenser
  • Inconsistent or incomplete wash cycles

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Joe, You will want to check the wiring between the control board and the dispenser motor to make sure that there is not damaged or loose wires and if this checks ok then the board would likely be the issue.

Nancy, This issue sounds like the ports in the dispenser would be clogged up not allowing water to flow properly and causing it to come out of the dispenser area. For this issue it sounds like you may need to replace the dispenser housing part number WP8540058.

Coe for Model Number MHWZ600TE00

Hello, I am concerned about my Tray dispenser. I do have water coming in on the back side filling up my tub but the water will not come through and over into my tray. I will have a little bit of liquid detergent still on the bottom of the tray. I do believe my Bleach bin will fill because I use that and my laundry will smell of bleach. Not sure of the fabric softer bin for i don't use this bin. I am looking at the switch Dis part number AP4365357. Will this sole my problem. Thanks

Coe, You will want to check the actuator on the dispenser to make sure that the actuator is moving when the unit is calling for detergent or bleach. Also check the ports in the dispenser to make sure that the ports are not clogged. The part number for the actuator is WPW10143586.

Shareen, You will need to check the water valve for voltage from control board to the water valve when the unit is turned on. There should be 120 vac from the control board to the water valve. If there is power then the water valve would be faulty and if there is no power then it will be the control board.

Hello Jack. Possible Causes/Procedure - Ask the customer how much detergent they are using and if it is HE detergent. May have too much suds present causing this condition. - Turn washer ON to verify pump operates; run the drain cycle. - Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked. - Unplug washer or disconnect power - Make sure that wire harness connections at the Drain Pump, Pressure SW, & CCU (DP2, PR6 cavities) connectors are not broken or with wires detached, and that connector internal pins are visible. - Check continuity from the Drain Pump & CCU (DP2 cavity) connectors. - Check continuity from the Pressure SW & CCU (PR6 cavity) connectors. - If the continuity diagnosis failed, Main Harness must be replaced. - Make continuity test to the Pressure SW. - Check the resistance of the motor pump. - Plug in washer or reconnect power. - Run the drain cycle. - If the failure continues, unplug washer or disconnect power. - Check the drain pump filter for foreign objects. - Disassemble the drain pump from the washer. - Check that the impeller is not detached from the motor shaft. If the impeller is detached from the shaft, is broken or has any scratches, the drain pump must be replaced. - Plug in washer or reconnect power. - Verify the unit operation by performing the Diagnostic Test cycle. - After the diagnostic test has finished, unplug washer or disconnect power and wait for 15 seconds.

Shaun, it's not the dispenser switch or motor WPW10143586 this part moves and directs the dispenser diverter to the appropriate dispenser (softener, bleach, detergent) and doesn't have a lot to do with the fill. It's a little rare that both fill valve solenoids would fail at the same time, but it is possible. The fact that you have no error codes is a bit strange. but you may want to start at the fill valve WP8540751.
