The Thermal Fuse is an OEM part for Whirlpool dishwashers. It serves as a crucial safety component that prevents the appliance from overheating by cutting off electrical power if the temperature inside the dishwasher becomes too high. This helps protect both the dishwasher and your home from potential fire hazards.

Causes of a bad thermal fuse can include overheating due to blocked air vents, malfunctioning components that lead to excessive heat, or electrical surges that damage the fuse. Over time, regular wear and tear can also contribute to the fuse's failure.

Symptoms of a bad thermal fuse include:

  • The dishwasher not starting or running
  • The control panel not responding
  • The dishwasher stopping unexpectedly mid-cycle
  • No indicator lights or sounds when attempting to operate the dishwasher

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Hello Steve, It may be showing the lock out due to another issue. This unit if you have multiple keys stuck on on the touch pad then the unit will cause the lock light to flash. Try to disconnect the ribbon harness between touch pad and control board. Make sure the contacts are clean and reinsert. If the light still will not goe off then you would need to replace the membrane switch.

Mike, The warm control panel, would be a "normal" occurrence. As long as the door is closed and latched shut, there is voltag supplied to the control board, and certain components will be "active" and can produce a warm feeling on the panel and door assembly(s). With the warm control board area, the door switches and fuse, should be fine, so the issue should be in the user interface 3380893 or control board WP8531292. We'll send you some information, so you can program a test mode, and check the operation of the dishwasher. Thanks

Nick, Your description would lead to a possible issue in the handle WP3369457 or latch assembly WP3380854. If there's a broken tab or crack in the frame etc, the handle won't interact with the latch assembly properly. There is also the possibility of a faulty door switch as well 4318273 Once you remove power to the dishwasher and remove the inner door liner from the door assembly, you'll have access to the latch and switches, and can determine the issue.

Hello Tom. Make sure all of the screws are removed from the bottom to the top of the inner door panel. If so, it will lift out of the unit. You may need to use a flat blade to help remove the door panel and access the fuse 675813. Hope this helps.

Hello Bob. The fuse 675813 is held onto the control board with tabs. You will need to release the tabs and pull the old fuse off. Then clip the new fuse onto the control board and replace the wires. Hope this helps.
