The Thermal Fuse is an OEM part for Whirlpool dishwashers. It serves as a crucial safety component that prevents the appliance from overheating by cutting off electrical power if the temperature inside the dishwasher becomes too high. This helps protect both the dishwasher and your home from potential fire hazards.

Causes of a bad thermal fuse can include overheating due to blocked air vents, malfunctioning components that lead to excessive heat, or electrical surges that damage the fuse. Over time, regular wear and tear can also contribute to the fuse's failure.

Symptoms of a bad thermal fuse include:

  • The dishwasher not starting or running
  • The control panel not responding
  • The dishwasher stopping unexpectedly mid-cycle
  • No indicator lights or sounds when attempting to operate the dishwasher

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Hello Ken. You will need to check and make sure the ribbon cable is clean and dry. If so, you will need to replace the control panel 8051707. If the unit will not light up any of the light and is completely dead, you will need to test the thermal fuse 675813. It should read closed for continuity. You can test this with a multi-meter MA-DM1. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
