Cim August 06, 2016 for Model Number KitchenAid Refrigerator KSCS25FTWH00 I think the KitchenAid Refrigerator KSCS25FTWH00 thermistor is not working right. Where is it located so I can check to see if this is the problem?
1 Answer Cim, If you open the refrigerator door and look at the upper left side there will be a cover. The thermistor will be next to the damper and you would remove the long flat cover first then the larger vented cover to access. Read More...
Mike Amria April 23, 2016 for Model Number KSSC48QKS00 Hi: my fridge stopped cooling and the (call service) light and peeping came on immediatley and since then it does not cool at all. I was told the main control board is bad and need to be replaced, so I did but without any results. then I noticed that the evaporator fan motor part # 8201589, and the bi-metal defrost thermostat part # w10225581 is not getting any power through the wires that comes from the main control board, so I checked these wires to see if there is any interruption and found none. Now my question is if the main control board is good and the wires that comes from the main control board to the evaporator fan motor and the bi-metal defrost thermostat have no power even though there is no interruption in these wires, then where is the problem. thank you for looking at my question.
1 Answer Mike, If there is power coming out of the main control board for the evaporator fan motor but there is no power at the fan then the issue would be that the wiring between the control and the fan are faulty. If you test on the main control board on the P7 connector from Pin 5 Yellow/red wire to Pin 9 White/violet wire there should be 12 vdc. If there is not 12 vdc at this point then you may have received a bad control board if there is power at this point then check the red to white on the fan motor itself to see if there is 12 vdc. If there is then the fan is bad. If there is no power then there is a wiring issue. Read More...
Michael April 18, 2016 for Model Number KSCS25FKBL02 I would like to know where the thermistor(s) are located so I can test them? It seems to be running cold except at the highest setting of the control panel.
1 Answer Michael, The thermistor can be located on the side wall of the refrigerator section or behind the crispers. There will be a cover over the thermistor that will have a screw holding it in place. Read More...
Kevin July 01, 2015 for Model Number 106.53606201 I susupect I might have a bad refrigerator thermistor. Diffuser passed the diagnostic test (watched it open / close during diagnostic diffuser door test. Yet it does not matter if the refrigerator is 30degF, or 55 deg F, the diffuser door always stays open. The Thermistor ohms at approx. 5.65k/32F & 2.2k/70F. Looks like reasonable numbers, and good to see it is changing with temperature. But is this within specs ?What should it measure ?
1 Answer Hello Kevin. Test the thermistor for resistance. It should read 10k ohms at 77 degrees, 29,500 ohms at 36 degree, and 86,300 ohms at 0 degrees. Hope this helps you, Thanks! Read More...
Paul December 28, 2013 for Model Number 106.74202402 There is two thermistor one top one bottom. Can you give me the ohms resistance reading for them? I have a new one and want to check against the old one. Thanks, Paul

James F November 15, 2013 for Model Number kssc42fms02 Hello, My refrigerator control panel keeps shutting on and off and I hear the evaporator fan is the freezer do the same. I removed the panel last night and saw that the evaporator motor was turning off and on. But, as time passed I noticed that by having the freezer door open that the temp rose to 40 degrees in the unit. I did not notice anything obvious so I put the panels back on and noticed that the refrigerator started to work normal again and was not shutting off and on. I monitored the refrigerator for an hour and noticed it was still running fine and the freezer and refrigerator were getting cold. I checked the unit again in the morning and saw that it started shutting off and on again. Could this be a Thermistor problem?
1 Answer Hello James. It sounds like the thermistor or the control board is bad if it is stopping power from going to the fan motor. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Shane October 24, 2013 for Model Number GC3PHEXNS00 I am wondering if a faulty thermistor might be causing my temperature issue. I set my control board to 37 degrees for the fridge, and my freezer is set to 2 degrees, but control board reads that it's in the 50's for the fridge and 14 degrees for freezer. The actual temperature is way colder and getting below freezing in the fridge. My evap fan is working and constantly running (not sure if that is normal) and air baffle is working. I am hoping it's not the control board though.
1 Answer Hello Shane. Based on the information you provided, it does sound like the thermistor is bad. However, you can test the thermistor and if it is good, then you will replace the board. Thermistor Temperature Resistance 77°F..................10,000 ohms 36°F..................29,500 ohms 0°F....................86,300 ohms You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Miguel July 01, 2013 for Model Number GC5SHEXNS03 Hello, I would like to know what resistance reading AP3757728 must read in order to deem it as good. Is there a resistance interval at specific temperature that should be considered? Thank you! Miguel
1 Answer Hello Miguel, The thermistor (AP3757728) should read within 10% above or below 2.7kO at 77°F. Read More...
Dpthomas54 January 19, 2012 for Model Number KSSS42MDX05 I just had a repairman install a new thermistor on my 12 year old Kitchenaid 42" built-in side-by-side refrigerator. I looked up the price of the actual part on this website and was surprised to see that it was around $30.00. I was charged $109 for the part. Am I missing something?
1 Answer Hello Dpthomas54. No, you are correct. WP2188820 is the correct thermistor for the model number you provided. Hope this helps. Read More...
You Site December 27, 2011 for Model Number ksc25inss00 What temperature the thermostat close and open?
1 Answer Hello. This is a thermistor WP2188820. It does not open and close, but reads different resistance based on the temperature of the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3.
