James F for Model Number kssc42fms02 Hello, My refrigerator control panel keeps shutting on and off and I hear the evaporator fan is the freezer do the same. I removed the panel last night and saw that the evaporator motor was turning off and on. But, as time passed I noticed that by having the freezer door open that the temp rose to 40 degrees in the unit. I did not notice anything obvious so I put the panels back on and noticed that the refrigerator started to work normal again and was not shutting off and on. I monitored the refrigerator for an hour and noticed it was still running fine and the freezer and refrigerator were getting cold. I checked the unit again in the morning and saw that it started shutting off and on again. Could this be a Thermistor problem?
Answer Hello James. It sounds like the thermistor or the control board is bad if it is stopping power from going to the fan motor. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
