Joe December 30, 2014 for Model Number NED7200TW10 Had 2 thermal cutoff switches open. The venting is good and blower motor is moving air well. My next thought would be the thermostat that's mounted next to the cutoff switch. When I watched the dryer go through its cycle it looked like the heating elements never cycled off either. What else besides the thermostat could it be? The Thermostat should have continuity through it on start up but should open when at temperature?
1 Answer Hello Joe, The only thing that will open a thermal cutout is high temperatures. The exhaust duct causes more than 95% of these failures. Other times it will be a softener sheet around the blower wheel or missing seals inside the unit that allows exhausted air to re-enter the cabinet. The cycling thermostat will not cause the second failure since it and the thermal cutout are to be changed at the same time so the new one should protect it. The high limit will also fall into this line of protection. Read More...
Mark August 06, 2013 for Model Number samsung dv 328aew/xaa dryer Had heating element go out , then thermal fuse twice , thermostat checks for continuity , but could it still be bad ? or what else might it be ?
1 Answer Mark, With having the heating element and 2 thermal fuses go out, you will want to check the venting on the unit to make sure that the vent is clear and not restricted. A restricted vent can cause this issue to occur. The Hi limit thermostat would normally have continuity and if the it does not open when the unit gets to a certain heat temp then it would be bad and need to be replaced. Read More...
Guest December 31, 2012 for Model Number YIED7200TW10 I have a electric dryer that runs perfect but with no heat. Leading up to today...sometimes the heat would work while other times it didn't or gave off a low heat, any suggestions what might need to be replaced? Thanks!
1 Answer Hello. Check and make sure you have 240 volts coming to the dryer. Check and make sure the unit is not set to Air Fluff. Also check the heater and thermostats and see if they are good. You can test these with a multi-meter MA-DM1. They should read closed for continuity. Shawn August 20, 2012 for Model Number mdg6700aww My gas dryer runs, but the heater will not turn on all the time. I've checked for lint blockage and it's all clear. Bad thermostat?
1 Answer Hello Shawn, The first suspect is the ignitor WP33002789. The only accurate way to test it is with a clamp on ampmeter. Clamp it onto one wire going to the ignitor and look for 3.2 to 3.6 amps. If it's low, replace the ignitor. If it shows in the correct range, you need to replace the coils on the gas valve 279834 or the gas valve WP35001190. Read More...
1 Answer Hello Chris. The thermostat WP35001092 should read closed for continuity. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
