Joe for Model Number NED7200TW10 Had 2 thermal cutoff switches open. The venting is good and blower motor is moving air well. My next thought would be the thermostat that's mounted next to the cutoff switch. When I watched the dryer go through its cycle it looked like the heating elements never cycled off either. What else besides the thermostat could it be? The Thermostat should have continuity through it on start up but should open when at temperature?
Answer Hello Joe, The only thing that will open a thermal cutout is high temperatures. The exhaust duct causes more than 95% of these failures. Other times it will be a softener sheet around the blower wheel or missing seals inside the unit that allows exhausted air to re-enter the cabinet. The cycling thermostat will not cause the second failure since it and the thermal cutout are to be changed at the same time so the new one should protect it.
