Melissa May 04, 2012 for Model Number MTW5770TQ Washer filled with water then NOTHING even if I manually turn the nob. I removed the control panel because I seen other simular situations, Is it the timer or the lid pin.
1 Answer Hello Melissa. You will need to test the lid switch WP8318084 and see if it is bad on the unit. It should read closed for continuity with the lid closed. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Karen F March 23, 2012 for Model Number MVWC 500VWO I replaced the timer, part number W010111389. I am still having the same problems. Will not work with cold water. Washes on Warm water will spin; but will not rinse. Could the timer be defective or is it something else?
1 Answer Karen, It's not likely a timer issue. If you're sure you have cold water at the faucet, and disconnect the water hose at the valve fitting and have water there, it's most likely a faulty ATC selector switch WPW10202616 . It could also be a faulty fill valve WP3979346. But on that design washer, it's more likely the ATC switch. Good Luck and Thanks Read More...
Keith March 16, 2012 for Model Number MTW5840TW0 I need to replace the timer. Can you tell me how to remove the control panel to get to the timer? Thanks!
1 Answer Hello Keith. If you use a flat blade putty or butter knife, you will release the clips under the front corners of the control panel and flip it backwards. Then you can access and replace the timer WPW10111389. Hope this helps. Read More...

Lisa February 03, 2012 for Model Number MTW574OTQ0 My Maytag does not agitate and won't advance on it's own. It does fill up, drain and spin. What could be the problem?
1 Answer Lisa, You should start at the water level switch W10339250, You may have a loose wire connection, or an incomplete circuit in the switch, which could affect the motor running in the agitate mode. After the checks at the water level switch, then replace the timer WPW10111389. Thanks and Good Luck Read More...
Sandy K. November 21, 2011 for Model Number MTW5870TWO When a new cycle is started, the water comes into the tub in short bursts. Turned off the water and you can hear the solenoid cycling at about one hertz. Is this a controller or solenoid issue, alternatively are their any other active components in play here?
1 Answer Hello Sandy. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the water valve WP3979346 is bad and will need to be replaced. Hope this helps. Read More...
Christopher K October 03, 2011 for Model Number mtw5840tw0 Washer seems to have several problems all at once. Problems began when the hot and cold suddenly reversed inside the machine. Then it just picked which it wanted and filled with hot or cold or some mix. I eventually shut the hot water off completely. Then the washer started to not progress into the spin cycle and would sit and hum. It would start if you pushed in the knob and progressed it a little further toward spin and then pulled it out again. It is now beginning to stop filling mid way through unless you slam the lid or hit the front of it. I have done extensive research and it seems it may need multiple parts all at one time. Lid switch, Water level switch and maybe a water valve itself. I check continuity on the water valve and it seemed to be okay. Could it be the timer itself? I'm at a loss as to how all of this could happen all at once. Any help would be greatly, greatly appreciated. Thanks
1 Answer Christopher, The first thing to do is check the water inlet hoses and valve screens, and clear any debris that has accumulated. To solve the intermittent fill and temperature problems replace the water temperature switchWP8578335It is most likely the root cause of all your issues. Thanks and Good Luck Read More...

Sid August 09, 2011 for Model Number mvwc500vwo Timer works in every position other than when you set it on heavy load, there it will run for ever. Is this a bad timer or possible something else?
1 Answer Hi Sid. Has the timer knob/skirt been turned upsidedown possibly? You will need to check the vent and clean it out. Be sure and clean the vent pipe and the dryer air duct assembly. If the air flow is not good, the unit will retain moist air causing the clothes not to dry. Try running the unit with the vent unhooked from the back of the dryer and see if the dryer works properly. If All of this is OK, you will need the timer assembly part # WPW10111389. Thank you. Read More...
