This mechanical timer sequences the dishwasher through its wash, drain, and dry steps. Replacing a failing timer restores proper cycle advancement so the dishwasher starts, progresses, and finishes cycles reliably. What it does:

  • Times and sequences power to the wash motor, drain pump, fill valve, and heater for each stage of the cycle
  • Advances the cycle automatically and moves the dial/indicator through programmed steps
  • Coordinates wash, rinse, and dry durations for consistent results
  • Typical failure symptoms: cycle won't advance or stops mid-cycle; runs too long; must be advanced manually; timer knob won't turn
What's included:
  • 1 mechanical timer assembly
Install notes:
  • Disconnect power at the breaker before servicing; do not rely on the control panel to turn the unit off
  • Access the timer from the control console/inner door; remove screws to reach the component
  • Photograph/label wire positions and transfer leads to the new timer one at a time
  • Reuse existing mounting hardware and knob; ensure the shaft orientation matches before reassembly

David, You will have to replace the timer WP8557301 if the timer shaft is broken or distorted. To replace the timer, you will need to remove power to the washer, slide the washer out enough to access the Phillips head screw in the back side of the console end cap(s). Tip the console assembly back on the hinges that secure the top of the console to the washer back panel. Plastic body timer : To remove the timer knob, push the knob in from the front. At the back of the timer, pull the black tab out approximately 3/16 ", then pull the timer knob off the shaft. Slide the timer dial from the timer hub. Unplug the wiring harness connector from the timer assembly terminals. Remove the one(1) hex head screw securing the left side of the timer assembly to the console mounting plate. Then lift the left side and slide the tabs at the right side of the timer assembly from the console mounting plate. Reverse the procedure and test the washer for operation.

Scott for Model Number LSQ9549PG0

Issue that lingers is when entering the spin cycle from agitate cycle. The system fills, agitates, takes it momentary pause, and then tries to enter spin cycle; which at this point, the machine has a higher constant pitched hum. It does facilitate the draining of the spin cycle just no spin. I go and lift the lid to the machine, I can hear a 'click' and the tub moves ever so slightly (like something was holding it against pressure). The movement is about 1/8-1/4 inch (counter-clockwise I believe). Lower the lid back down, and the machine will start to spin and the noise of the machine is a lower (more normal sounding) hum of the drive train and basket getting up to speed and will spin fine. The same thing happens when it goes to enter the rinse cycle spin; however, it goes into the high spin cycle with no issue and spins fine.

Scott, This is normal for the tub to not spin when it first goes to the drain spin cycle as this is a neutral drain. The high pitched noise may be coming from something that is clogged or jammed in the drain pump. You will want to check the drain pump.

Hello Tim, It is a possiblility that the wire could have shorted out the timer or the motor. The motor when it shuts down is actually what relays back to the buzzer. Can not tell for sure due to the model number listed is for a washer and we would need the dryer model to look at schematics. Please post your model number with a new question on the parts page. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/modelnumber_locator.aspx

Hello Steve. You need to check for any loose connections and also, you need to check the lid switch 3949247V and see if it is broken or if it is bad. To access the lid switch, Disconnect the power to the unit. Remove the two screws in the back corners of the control panel securing the control panel. Pull the control panel forward and flip it backwards. Next unplug the lid switch and remove the two brass colored clips securing the cabinet to the back wall using a flat blade screwdriver to pry them out. Pull on the front of the cabinet and slide the cabinet off the frame of the washer. You can now access and replace the lid switch 3949247V. Reinstall in reverse order.

Hello Felix. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the pressure switch or the pressure hose is bad and will need to be replaced. Check and see if the hose is broke, cracked, or clogged. If not, you will need to replace the pressure switch on the unit. Hope this helps.
