Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Timer (Part Number: OEM18037776)

Hello Larry. It is normal for the terminals to turn black, as long as they are not burnt and melted. It sounds like the bad heater is the reason the timer WP8299781 is not advancing. If the heater does not work, no power is supplied to the timer motor. Hope this helps.

Hello. You will want to make sure you are getting 240V to the unit from the breaker box. Next, check the heating element and make sure the heating coils 279838 on the element are intact. You will want to test the cycling thermostat WP3387134with a multi meter MA-DM1. On the two outer terminals you will want to have a close reading and the inner terminals will give you a resistance reading. Here is a link you can refer to for help with using a multi meter: http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html . Hope this helps!

Hello Curtis. You will need to use the timer for the model number of the dryer. For the heating issue, you will need to check and make sure you have 240 volts coming to the dryer. Also check the heater 279838 and thermal fuses 279816 and see if they are good. You can test these with a multi-meter MA-DM1. They should read closed for continuity. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Hello Manuel. If it is heating, then it sounds like the venting system is clogged. You will need to check the vent and clean it out. Be sure and clean the pipe and the dryer both. Hope this helps.
