Larry January 18, 2012 for Model Number Estate tedx640pq0 Dryer runs, but doesn't heat, doesn't stop unless door is opened or turn the control dial to 'off', and control dial doesn't autoadvance. Heating element is damaged. When removing the timer, I noticed the connections on red and black wires were black. What could have caused burnt connections? How do I test the timer? I am familiar with ohmmeter.
1 Answer Hello Larry. It is normal for the terminals to turn black, as long as they are not burnt and melted. It sounds like the bad heater is the reason the timer WP8299781 is not advancing. If the heater does not work, no power is supplied to the timer motor. Hope this helps. Read More...
1 Answer Hello Emanuel. You will need to test the thermal fuse WP3392519 and the door switch WP3406105. They should read closed for continuity. If they are bad, the dryer will not start. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...

Beate H. May 08, 2011 for Model Number TEDX640PQ1 Dryer Estate Whirlpool The dryer no longer gets hot, the heating elements not working. The control dial does not move forward and does not go off. I believe the control is my problem. I lost the 60 minute cycle when I moved, the other hot cycles worked, up until about three days ago. the dryer will be five years old in June of this year.
1 Answer Hello. You will want to make sure you are getting 240V to the unit from the breaker box. Next, check the heating element and make sure the heating coils 279838 on the element are intact. You will want to test the cycling thermostat WP3387134with a multi meter MA-DM1. On the two outer terminals you will want to have a close reading and the inner terminals will give you a resistance reading. Here is a link you can refer to for help with using a multi meter: http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html . Hope this helps! Curtis May 06, 2011 for Model Number TEDX640PQ0 Dryer not heating up. Element looks fine but not getting elec. Is there a longer cycle time that could be mounted to this dryer say with a 60 minute cycle?
1 Answer Hello Curtis. You will need to use the timer for the model number of the dryer. For the heating issue, you will need to check and make sure you have 240 volts coming to the dryer. Also check the heater 279838 and thermal fuses 279816 and see if they are good. You can test these with a multi-meter MA-DM1. They should read closed for continuity. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
