Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Timer, Control (60 Hz) (Part Number: OEM18026904)

Hi. Unless the contacts are dirty or wet, then do not use electrical spray. The timer internal cams are stuck shut not allowing the advance of time increments. Replace the timer part # WP3955765. Thank You.

Don, It could be a timer issue, but you should eliminate the other possibilities first. Will the washer work properly, when the dryer is not operating ? What is the amperage rating for the GFI receptacle? What other components or appliances are on the same GFI circuit ? It's more likely that there is enough draw on the power supply / circuit, to cause the GFI circuit to trip when the motor amperage increases when the motor starts. Thanks

Hello Howard. Yes, the timer can prevent spinning and also the lid switch WP8054980 can. You need to check and make sure the lid switch is good on the unit.

Hi GW. When the washer fills and stops, it is a defective lid switch that will not allow it to start. Lid switch part # WP8318084. Check the drain hose and make sure it is not any further in the standpipe more than 4-1/2 ". It may be that you are siphoning over and over. The unit was sent with the drain hose that you loop over and then install into the standpipe. The standpipe needs to be at least 36" high and no higher than 96". Thank You.

Frontrunner for Model Number LSQ9110PW2

Hello, I had asked a question on another part I identified to be the problem,(Switch-WL) but the more I read about the timer. Its a Whirlpool LSQ9110PW2. The more I think this could be our problem. The load was running fine up to the rinse cycle. When it hit the rinse cycle it just hangs and no water runs in. I can reset everything and try to start back at a new wash but it still wont do anything but a slow agitate waiting for water to rinse before another spin. It is stuck in this mode even if I try different temperature settings. Is it possible the timer is bad? Thanks

1 Answer

Hi Frontrunner. If The machine stops filling at the rinse cycles, then you will need to replace the water valve part # is WP3979346. Check the fill hoses and flush them out in a bucket. Look at the cold water incoming screen to see if it is clogged with sediment as the hot water sediment will fall into the bottom of the water heater. The cold water sediment will collect in the cold side sinks filter screens. Thank you.

Hello Ron. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the timer WP3955765 is bad and will need to be replaced. These are not hard to replace. Remove the screws in the back corners of the control panel and pull the control panel forward and flip it backwards. Next, pull out on the tab in the center of the back of the timer and pull the knob off the timer. Release the clip and slide the timer out of the control panel. Unplug the wires going to the timer, and reinstall with the new timer in reverse order. Hope this helps.

Larry for Model Number LSQ9659PW4

At the end of the wash cycle and before it drains to go to the spin cycle it goes into a pause. Sometimes it never comes out of the pause and will stay there for 15 minutes or more. To get it to start again I try different things. Sometimes just opening and closing the lid will get it to start. Other times I have to push in and then pull out the timer control knob. So far it has always started again when I do either of those two things. Any idea what may be wrong?

Hello Larry. If you can raise and lower the lid to start it, you will need to check and see if the lid switch WP8318084 is broke. If so, you will need to replace the lid switch. Hope this helps.
