Mike September 25, 2014 for Model Number WTW5550SQ0 On the heavy /regular cycle my washing machine will not Agitate all the time. Then all the water will not drain out of the tub. It works fine on the Light cycle though
1 Answer Mike, Based on the information this issue sounds like it would be caused by a motor that is not operating on the high speed winding. This would require that the motor to be replaced. You can test for an open winding by checking from pin 4 blue wire to pin 7 gray wire on the motor. If this checks ok then the timer would be the issue. Read More...
Waynef June 04, 2014 for Model Number Kenmore Residential Washer model #11028522700 I do believe my washing machine is haunted! It will run and do 6 loads of laundry without a hiccup for many days! Then it gets in a mood and stops during a wash cycle and just sits for a couple of hours then starts again. My guess was timer, lid switch or other control knobs! All were tested, nothing found! Next I figured a bad bearing was heating up and going into safety mode! BUT! That doesn't explain why it will work for weeks on end and act up for a couple of days! I have tried different settings, cycles, loads water temperature, everything I can think of! When its running well, it's perfect! When it's acting up! I think of getting a new machine! I've checked for loose connections, ground wires, and I have inspected all parts. Once about 12 months ago the circuit breaker did trip and this has been going one for 4 months. I am at a loss!
1 Answer Wayne, It sounds like an issue where the motor at times is getting a drag on it where it caused it to overheat. With it stopping in the middle of wash or spin then that would be the most likely scenario. Read More...
Tom October 01, 2013 for Model Number WTW 5600SQO My washing machine fills and then starts to agitate but gets stuck in that cycle and continues agitating. If you move it manually it will work perfectly through the rest of the cycles. Is this the Timer???
1 Answer Hello Tom. If there is power to the timer motor, and it does not advance, you will need to replace the timer on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Debra June 25, 2013 for Model Number 8577356 I talked to a gentleman yesterday telling him my washer won't stop filling water. It will not shut off. He told me to turn water on let it fill for a minute or two then unplug while it is still filling. If the water keeps filling it needs a valve. If it stops it needs a timer. It did stop when I unpluged it so I ready to order a timer #8577356. Just making sure I did things right before I order. Now if this does not work, can I return the timer? Thanks, Debra
1 Answer Hello Debra. No, you need to order the pressure switch not the timer for the unit. Read More...
Lovell April 20, 2013 for Model Number wtw5540sq0 will not fill with water .replaced timer and water valve.lidswitch ok water level switch OK .other dials look ok but no way to test.cannot keep buying parts on hope something works.what now? let me add to last question the timer will not start on water fill, it will start and run on spin but will stop when it gets to a water fill position thanks lovell.
1 Answer Hello Lovell, This sounds like the water level switch W10339251 is not making electrical continuity when it is actuated by a low water level. You will need to get a test meter to check it electrically. You also need to remove the water level switch hose from the switch and blow through t back toward the tub. It should be clear and you will be able to hear the air entering the bottom of the tub. Don not blow back toward the switch as this can cause damage to the switch. Read More...
Bill April 15, 2013 for Model Number whirlpool wtw5540sq0 washer will not start, checked lid switck OK. will not do anything except sometimes on spin, little motor in timer works when on spin but no other time so looks like timer is bad.also cannot get knob off as shown in your video.
1 Answer Bill, This does sound like it would be a faulty timer WP8577356. To remove the knob you will either need to grab the post in the center of the timer on the back and lift up or hold it and pull timer knob off. Read More...
Matt October 31, 2012 for Model Number Kenmore 28522700 The washing machine filled with water but won't run. I checked the lid switch. It shows continuity with the lid closed. I even bypassed the switch with a jumper wire and it still won't run. I have read that some washing machines will do this and have a buzzing noise. Mine is silent. How can I check the timer and motor? thank you, Matt
1 Answer Hi. If the motor does not stay running then it has either bad bearings, dragging armature, shorted windings or centrifugal switch contacts. Therefore it will also open the heat circuit passing through separate centrifugal contacts as well. Either way the motor part # WE17X10010 needs replaced. Correct all vent issues with kinking or clogs. Thank You. Read More...
Manuel October 15, 2012 for Model Number wtw500sq0 My washer filled up with water but will not start cycle.
1 Answer Hello Manuel. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the lid switch WP8318084 may be bad and need to be replaced. You need to test the lid switch. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Steve August 18, 2012 for Model Number 110.27612600 my washer will not advance to spin cycle we have to manually do it. do i need i a new timer?
1 Answer Steve, Based on your short post description, Yes, you will need to replace the timer WP8577356. Apparently the timer motor or the interior contacts have failed and the timer will not advance on it's own. Thanks Read More...
Jim And Sheila July 26, 2012 for Model Number 110.27612600 Hello, Our washer will run through the cycles but will not spin. A while back my son put it on the longest wash cycle and it just kept washing. It would be fine if we put it on a shorter cycle and did so for some time intil 2 weeks ago, stopped spinning. Also, the dial used to only turn clockwise and now turns both ways. Do you think it is the timer or something else. I need to fix it ASAP but I want to make sure that I order the correct part from you. Thank you very much for your time!
1 Answer Jim and Sheilla, based on your post, you need a timer WP8577356, no matter what. Chances are (95%) that will solve all the issues, as long as nothing else was damaged by the faulty timer. Thanks Read More...
