The Control Timer is an OEM replacement part specific to Whirlpool washers. It is the electronic component responsible for governing the sequence and duration of wash cycles. Located inside the control console, the timer works with the control dial to initiate various wash/rinse phases based on the selected settings.

Causes for timer failure may include water exposure corroding electrical circuits or repeated rapid switching wearing out internal switches.

Hello Danny. You need to test for power to the water valve. If there is no power there, either the pressure switch or the control board is bad and will need to be replaced. If there is power there, you may have no water coming to the unit or the screens in the hoses may be clogged.

Hi Robert. Make sure you remove the supply hoses and clean the water valve inlet screens. This may be impeding the water fill. Water valve part # WPW10144820.Your type of timer has a individual small white connector on the backside of the timer. This connection internally to the timer had connection issues originally. It was corrected and upgraded with this timer part # WPW10199989. Thank You.

Hello Rip. If the timer is new, you will need to check and make sure the clutch assembly 285785 is good on the unit. If not, it will cause the unit to act like this. If the clutch is good, then the motor may be the issue. Hope this helps.

Hello Jill. Check and see if the lid switch WP8318084 is bad on the unit. If so, it will not spin or drain out. If the unit spins and drains, but does not rinse, check and see if the cold water is bad. If so, replace the water valve WPW10144820. Hope this helps.

Hi Daniel. If all else is working properly then you need to check the water supply valves. Take your hoses off and put them in a bucket one by one and see if you have good pressure. If the water is restricted (especially cold side)then it will take longer and longer to fill /rinse each time. Look on the back of your water valve and see if the screens are clogged. The water valve is part # WPW10144820. Thank you.
