For Whirlpool Timer (Part Number: OEM18024024)

Alfred V. for Model Number Maytag Atlantis dryer Model MDE6400AYW serial#12503535AV

Thanks for you're reply. I put the old timer back in and it turns the dryer on. Again it takes some pulling and works inconsistently. I think that probably means the fuse and door switch are o.k. The new timer I received part#AP4043083 will not turn the dryer on at all .Do I need part # AP4042974 or could AP4043083 be defective. The repair person that looked at the dryer was fairly certain it was the timer and we had to replace it previously. Alfred

Hello Alfred. You will need to test the thermal fuse AP4037790 first. It should read closed for continuity. If it is good, make sure the door switch AP4319999 is working properly. If not, these can keep the machine from starting. The timer you ordered is the correct timer. I think we may be dealing with another problem here. If the fuse is blown, you will want to check for a restricted or kinked vent. You can test this with a multi-meter AP3873826. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps.http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Hello Al. Here are the instructions from the manufacture. Hope this helps. 1. Disconnect power to the machine. 2. Carefully life the timer knob and dial off the timer shaft by pulling the knob away from the face of the control console. 3. Remove the two timer mounting screws when the timer dial skirt is removed. 4. Disengage the console assembly from the top cover and roll forward. You will do this by removing the three screws securing the console rear cover plate across the rear top edge of the console. Grasp the console and rock the top of the console forward. Carefully lift and roll the console forward and remove the console. 5. Install the new timer in reverse order. Make sure the wires are connected properly.

Russ for Model Number MDE6400AYW and Serial # 19510255CJ

Hi, I purchased AP4042974 for my Maytag MDE6400AYW and Serial # 19510255CJ dryer. Everything works on the dryer (heats up, turns, etc) except for two things: 1) When you open the dryer door it does not stop running and 2) On the auto moisture sensing it never stops or turns off, and 3) Likewise the timer mode is not functional (i.e. dryer runs but timer doesn't function). Did I order the wrong Timer? Should I have ordered: AP4043083 ? And if so, how do I go about returning this one and getting the correct one. Thanks in advance! Russ
