The Water Valve is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. It controls the flow of water into the washer during the fill cycles, ensuring that the machine gets the correct amount of hot and cold water for washing and rinsing clothes. This valve is essential for the proper functioning of the washing machine.

You should replace the water valve if it becomes faulty. Causes of a bad water valve can include mineral buildup from hard water, electrical issues, or wear and tear from regular use. A malfunctioning valve can lead to issues such as inadequate water flow, leaking, or the washer not filling properly.

Symptoms of a bad water valve include:

  • The washer not filling with water or filling slowly
  • Water leaks around the valve area
  • Inconsistent water temperature during fill cycles
  • The washer not advancing through cycles due to improper water levels

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

For Whirlpool Water Valve (Part Number: OEM18035562)

1 Answer

Brian, Test to see if there is 120 vac to the cold water valve and if there is proper power then the valve is faulty and will need to be replaced.

1 Answer

Brian, Check for power to the cold valve when it should be calling for water. If there is power and no water the valve would likely need to be replaced. Anything further we will need the model/serial numbers to properly research your issue and give you the correct information and part numbers for the machine you are working on.

Evelyn, The F20 will indicate no water coming into the unit. This would cause the fabric softener to not dispense and could be caused by a clogged water valve screen or a possible faulty water valve.

Michael for Model Number 11049962603

Keep getting the f20 code. I disconnected both water lines to make sure inlet filters were clear and to make sure water was flowing through the lines ok. Then cleaned filter at bottom of machine. Also inspected by the pump and just inside the door to make sure no socks got into the system. Still getting f20 code. My girlfriend said she ran it on a quick wash and it ran without the f20 code. Also noticed water leaking from the bottom of what looks like the tub when i removed the bottom panel.

Michael, If there is no water coming into the unit, test for 120 vac at the water valve and if there is no power then the control board will be the issue.

Mike, The F30 error code is a dispenser system error. 1. Unplug washer or disconnect power. 2. Check mechanical linkage from dispenser motor to the top of the dispenser. 3. Check the wire harness connections to the dispenser motor and Central Control Unit (CCU). 4. Check dispenser motor for powered rotations.

Gary, The F 20 error code " NO WATER DETECTED ENTERING MACHINE OR PRESSURE SWITCH TRIP NOT DETECTED" On your washer there are a few things to check, Check and clean the fill hose and valve screens. Check the wires between the flow meter WPW10110225 and the control board. Disconnect the air tube WPW10004260 from the water level switch WPW10514214, blow in the end of the tube, to clear any debris or sediment that may have accumulated in the fittings. Then check the wiring between the water level switch and the control board. If all's OK and the problem persists replace the CCU.

Mike Lang for Model Number Kenmore Elite He3t model 11049962600 smart wash quiet pack 4 type 199

Machine throws F20 error code about 1 minute into every cycle tried. Cleaned inlet valve screens which were sedimented (on a well). Before shotgun ordering/replacing parts like the solenoid valve (I suspect the valves are grtitted up by sediment), pressure sensor, and flow sensor, could you please tell me how to enter the diagnostic mode for this specific machine ? I can't find how to enter diagnostics for this exact machine on the web. And is there a way to test the solenoid valve assembly after removing it from the machine ? Are the coils energized by 110VAC or some other voltage ?Thanks ! Mike

1 Answer

Mike, The coils on the valve are energized by 120 vac. If there is 120 vac getting to the valve then the issue will be a faulty valve and if there is no power then the control board would be the issue.

Hello CK. Possible Causes / Procedure ¦ If there is no water in the unit: — Make sure that both valves at the water source(s) are turned on all the way. — Check for plugged or kinked inlet hoses or plugged screens in the inlet valves. — Verify inlet valve operation. ¦ If there is water in the unit: — Verify drain pump operation. — Verify that the pressure switch hose is in good condition and properly connected to tub and pressure switch. 1. Verify there is not a siphon problem. 2. Unplug washer or disconnect power. 3. Verify wire harness connections to inlet valves, pressure switch, drain pump, flow meter, and Central Control Unit (CCU). 4. Check all hoses for possible leaks. 5. Plug in washer or reconnect power. 6. Verify pressure switch operation. 7. Verify flow meter operation by blowing air through the part and measuring the resistance. 8. Verify CCU operation by running a Diagnostic test or any cycle.
