George V Homestead , FL January 03, 2015 Appliance: Model MHWE500PV00 MAYTAG Unnoticed leak until i removed the top of my front end washer This should be plastered all over the place and every owner of a front end washer should be advised or a recall should be issued about this. As I opened the top of my washer to fix a F35 error by replacing the water level switch, which worked out great and it fixed the issue, I noticed a rusting spot at the bottom of the washer just under where the motor is placed. After running the washer with the lid open (I don't recommend doing that) I noticed that it was coming from the top of the soap dispenser at the rear of it. Apparently, as the water shoots into the soap dispenser and goes into the diverter to divert the water to the appropriate soap or bleach area in the tray the water splashes against the side and leaks out of it causing a few drops to fall onto the side of the drum and down on top of the motor and ends at the bottom of the washer. The leak is small, but definitely there, so it puddles and evaporates before it is noticed so you'll never know it's there unless you look for it and it will ruin your washer eventually and possibly your drum motor. My fix was to replace the top, simple enough and no more leak thank you APP.com. But what got me to writing this review was when I compared the old top to the new one I noticed that the new one was made differently. It had a extra partition right where the leak was occurring to stop the water from splashing against the wall of the tray therefore stopping any chance of leakage. It was like the manufacturer knew about this inherent problem and made a fix for it as they produced the new soap dispenser tops but are not telling anyone about it because that might cause them to recall the product. So now I'm PO'd and wish to tell you all our there with these front end washers that you need to check for this leak and fix it before it ruins other parts of your expensive washer and if you are so moved that you contact the manufacturer and let them know that you know this is a problem with their washers and should issue a recall and refund for the fix to it's customers. I did. Good luck. P.S. I have pic's to prove my point but don't know how to include them here. Haro B Sorrento , FL January 30, 2016 Appliance: Whirlpool Washer GHW9100LW2 Displayed fh error code almost every minute of cycle If my machine was one of the newer ones which displays the "E" error codes, diagnosis would have been much easer. My machine is one of the GHW models and only displayed the "F" code. It began intermittently and eventually progressed to stopping every minute and displaying the fH code. I cleaned all the drain pump lines and filter and verified drain was good. I also checked the inlet valves and supply lines and checked all the electronic connections. Because I was getting good water flow into the machine, I focused on the pressure switch. The hose was clear and had no leaks. When I checked the resistance across connections on the switch itself, it pointed toward a bad switch, which I replaced. Still had the problem. Running the diagnostic test did not narrow it down, and I began to fear the control module. As I continued running the diagnostics, I started focusing more on each step of the diagnostics. The code would only appear during the second and fourth steps, the cold water and hot water fill stages. Since I knew I was getting good water flow into the machine, I decided to try the flow meter. After ordering the part from you and installing it, I have had no more trouble. Problem solved. One of the main reasons I did not suspect the flow meter originally was that I had read in a couple of posts by technicians that the flow meter rarely fails. In this case, it did. As I stated earlier, running the diagnostics on one of the newer machines would have narrowed it down to the flow meter. Scott H Auburn , NY July 26, 2014 Appliance: Model DUET WASHER Hf error code meaning water inlet issue I originally replaced the inlet valve and that seemed to fix it for a while but every 6 months it came back. This went on for 2 years until a new inlet valve would not recover from the fault. I tried to replace the water level sensor at the advice of the technician but this did not fix it. Since mechanical things fail first, I looked to the flow meter. Replacing that solved the issue. Maybe the inlet valves were bad originally too, no way to tell. I troubleshot this by listening to the water cycle. When it continued to fill (normally would start and stop a few time) I knew it was related to the filling side. David D Sharon , CT June 03, 2017 "hf" code on whirlpool duet washer "HF" code indicates either a water flow problem or the flow meter is not working properly. Ordered new Flow Meter and replaced. No further problem. Take off washer cover, turn off water supply, remove old flow meter - the first thing water goes through after entering the machine. Put in new meter, tighten hoses, re-establish electrical connection on flow meter. Replace cover. Loren M Stanfield , OR July 17, 2014 Suds indication followed by f 35 on my kenmore front loading clothes washer Kenmore front loading washer was giving SUDS followed by F-35. I went through a couple of level switches with no lasting success. Called in a repairman who found the new level switch I put in was bad from the factory. He made a comment that a bad flow switch can also cause these error indications. He replaced the bad level switch and the washer worked, then worked sporadically, and then got worse. I noted that the errors were coming in before the soap had time to mix with the water which suggested a failing flow switch. I replaced the flow switch about 6 weeks ago. No problems since. Replacement is easy - switch is right at top on left side under lid on my machine. A 5 minute job. Looking at the type of construction for the flow switch indicates to me that it is not a particularly long lived component.
