I unplugged the unit, removed the back cardboard panel and replaced the compressor starting device, and also the capacitor. Plugged the unit back in and the compressor came on and immediately began cooling. I was so happy (proud of myself) for diagnosing the problem and fixing the unit. Googled the symptoms and realized it was probably the Start Relay. To check, I unplugged the refrigerator, took off the back panel, and pulled the old start relay off. I shook it and it rattled, like something was broken inside. That was the sign that it did indeed need to be replaced. Looked up the part on www.appliancepartpros.com and found it.
