Room Air Conditioner Compressor & Sealed System

This evaporator coil assembly circulates refrigerant and removes heat from the fresh food compartment to maintain proper cooling. Replacing a damaged or corroded evaporator restores consistent refrigerator temperature and defrost performance. What it does:

• Holds and circulates refrigerant so the appliance can absorb heat from inside the cabinet
• Enables the refrigeration cycle that keeps the compartment cold
• Commonly needed when you see excessive frost buildup, poor cooling, or visible coil damage
• Works with the freezer's defrost system to prevent ice accumulation on the coil

• One evaporator coil assembly

• High-level replacement; appliance disassembly and refrigerant system exposure may be required
• Disconnect power before servicing to avoid electrical shock
• Inspect and replace damaged gaskets, insulation, or mounting hardware as needed

This evaporator coil removes heat from the freezer compartment so the refrigerator can maintain cold temperatures. Replacing a damaged or frozen evaporator restores proper cooling and helps prevent ice buildup. What it does:

• Circulates refrigerant and absorbs heat from the freezer compartment
• Supports normal defrost cycles when paired with the defrost system
• Commonly associated with symptoms like insufficient cooling, excessive freezer frost, or long run times
• Works with the compressor and expansion device to complete the refrigeration cycle

• Installation typically requires emptying the freezer, unplugging the appliance, and recovering refrigerant per local regulations
• Handle the coil carefully to avoid bending fins or damaging tubing
• Follow OEM service instructions for brazing/welding, vacuuming, and charging the system; HVAC/refrigeration service is recommended for sealed-system work
• Wear gloves and eye protection; disconnect power before beginning work
