Microwave Glass Cooktop/Front Control Parts

My Advantium worked fine except the clock and cooking instructions were dim and bounced in a circular pattern over the left side of the display. I tried unplugging it and once or twice that seemed to help. When I finally decided to take the control panel off I had a difficult time until I saw an old remark from a 2009 forum discussion from a guy that said there were about a dozen screws to remove to get to the control panel. First I replaced the flickering digitron after reading elsewhere that it may be just a weak display. The new digit on was still flickering but a little differently. Replaced the "Encoder Board". My GE Advantium control panel came of fairly easily. There was 2 screws on top to remove a vent director giving access to a single screw that held the control panel in place. Once I removed that screw, I had to slide the control panel upwards by about 1/2" before it came off. Careful placement of new screws into the inside of the outer door that now hold the frame assembly to the door secured the frame assembly to the outer door. All of the other parts I bought and replaced were a waste of money. I figured since I had them I might as well install them anyways. Easier than sending them back since I had the whole thing apart anyways. The part I really needed was no longer available, the outside door. I contacted Appliance Parts Pros, and told them what the problem was and what it was doing. They sent me an email with the parts number needed to complete the repair. This was a built in a cabinet unit and I required help removing it and reinstalling it. The repair was relative easy once I had the parts and it took approximately four hours,. I ordered the part from AppliancePartsPros.com. I received the part quickly; unscrewed the old door removed it and popped on the new door part and screwed it in. It took no more than 30 minutes to replace. I saved at least $300 dollars if I had to replace the whole microwave. Read more

3 screws on inside edge of door, then pried it off gently. Removed and cleaned the glass and put it in the new door frame. Put the new frame on the door. Read more

Last Saturday my microwave display stopped working. I pulled the unit out of the wall and tried to remove the display cover assembly but couldn't figure out how it was attached. The door was very simple to change out. I removed the 2 screws on top of the microwave and pulled the piece above the door down and out. There are tabs on the bottom of this piece that hold it in place along with the screws on top. After this was out of the way, changing the door was as simple as lifting up on the door and when the top peg was clear lean it out slightly to get the bottom peg out. Read more
