Removed control knob that was broken also. Removed two screws and tilted top panel back.
Removed two screws holding timer in place. Disconnected wiring harness from bad timer.
Reconnected wiring harness to new timer. Used two new screws provided to place timer in position.
Let top panel down and replaced two screws holding it down. Installed new control knob.

Popped the back control panel and checked where the power comes in. Had power. On the other side of that component there was no power. Found the problem. The hardest part was finding where they hid the model number. Up and under the back of the lid. Nice hiding place.

About a year ago, the washer was doing a similar thing, where it would shut off before the spin cycle started. The coin trap was completely clogged then, so I checked it first this time. It was clear, so I took the drain pump out and checked that as well. Nothing seemed to be physically wrong with the machine, so I put it in diagnostic mode, which gave me error code 43 when I tried the spin cycle. This one of the codes for a bad control board.
Replacing the board only took about 15 minutes....
