I had to replace my frig and the upgraded model didn't come with a dairy bin. I found a review for the model in which someone had done the research and found that the Kenmore Elite had a model of refrigerator that was designed like the Whirlpool but came with the bin. He ordered it for his Whirlpool and he says it fit. I ordered one and it fit on the top notches but due to the design, it would not open. I just shifted a door shelf up to the top and put the dairy bin under it and it works fine. Read more

Found a knowledgeable qualified agent at AppliancePartsPros.com that found the upper and lower door bins were not correctly illustrated...In fact, they were opposite...a Whirlpool mistake...The top bin 13 on the drawing was actually the lower bin part number, and the lower bin 4 on the drawing was actually the top bin part number...With that little effort, paying attention to detail of the description of the size of the bin, the agent/tech ordered the correct lower bin for me...When it arrived,... The problem was that the motor coupler & shaft had a tiny bit of rust at their union. With the weight of the ice bin it rusted in the lowest position. This didn't allow the motor coupler to float on the shaft. There is a spring inside the shaft that pushes up on the motor coupler keeping it engaged in the ice bin coupler above. I purchased replacement parts to completely replace basket, face plate, and rollers. I received exactly what I ordered. The only problem I had was removing the part(s) from the shipping box. I thought the part came assembled (as rollers had been installed onto the basket), but the face plate had not been snapped into place. Remove and replaced the auger motor, shaft seal, and the chute seal. No problem. However, the causing failure was to broken wire on the bottom of the freezer door. Loom and blue wire were cut, due to being pinched. I had current to start with and the auger worked three times then quit. That's when I really had to start searching . Fun. Read more
