Replaced dogs & cap seal. I also replaced Spring retainer since it was worn and I had it apart. Easy repair. Used a screwdriver to pop off fabric softener cap. socket to remove the agitator. I used a flathead screwdriver to remove the spring from the retainer. I cleaned everything and reassembled. It was a very easy repair. Saved at least $100. doing it myself. I had to replace the drive shaft and the lower agitator. The motor coupling was also worn out. The repair was challenging because I had to rebuild the gear box. This step was really messy and I had to wait for the liquid gasket to set prior to completing the repair. Cleaning and prep of all of the parts tripled the repair time. Read more

Researched this kenmore washer on-line and found the problem to be the lid switch. Saw a diagram on how to jump this switch by connecting a wire to both outside wires on the harness and voila! It worked! This is not a fix but it allowed me to finish the load of unwashed clothes and told me which part was bad (do not run washer jumped like this.......fire hazard!) The bolt that holds the agitator and the agitator cam was rusted in place so it made the project way more difficult than it should have been. Had to cut the agitator off the shaft and cut the head of the frozen bolt off. Thankfully, Appliance Pros had all three parts I needed. Once the parts arrived it only took ten minutes to fix. Watched your videos on repairing different parts of the washer such as, the tub, agitator, tub balance springs. The problem was found when I removed the agitator. The neck of the tub was almost totally rusted through. Had I had a spanner wrench it would have been a lot easier. Several sprays with GP Blaster penetrating oil helped loosen the nut but punch and hammer damaged the nut to where I didn't want to reuse it. Springs were broken and back bracket was bent I replaced the bracket and all four Springs including the vertical one. I removed the cabinet as shown in the video. Then with a pair of vise grips's removed the springs one by one and replace them. The bracket was rusted And bent i used a quarter inch socket with a quarter inch ratchet to remove the screw. Due to the rust i used penetrating oil the screw. Read more

Watched on line Video. Only problem was in disconnecting wire "bus" connector from switch. I was unable to remove connector without damaging it. I "jumped" connector to prove switch was faulty. This also allowed my wife to continue to do laundry while part arrived. I ordered a 3 circuit connector, but this was not the correct part. I ended up removing 3 wires from old broken connector and attaching them to new switch without a connector. Electrical tape did the trick. Not perfect... Read more

Fixing the problem was quite simple. First, I removed the lid assembly (thanks to the diagrams supplied by AppliancePartsPros.com!). Getting the back two screws out was very difficult because I couldn't see them from the front and I could not move the unit out of the enclosed space. First I looked at the many you tube vids, and there are many. appliance parts pros pretty much shows you how to deal with the parts. I changed the brake shoes and the clutch assembly which also comes with the driver cam. I also changed the metal brake operating cam. I think that brake lockup or improper brake release was the problem that broke the plastic cam driver. This was the broken plastic part making all the ticking noise.
