Remove top lid panel and splatter shield. I didn't need to remove the back panel on my model. Used pliers to lift the old rod up and out. Did one rod at a time. Watched several videos so it went quickly. I've done 2 loads now and the machine has stayed in place. Be sure to balance the machine prior to that first load. I also replaced rubber pads on the interior housing. These provide bumper between the tub and housing walls. Read more

Replaced door latch and switch. Parts are plastic so you must know what you are doing to avoid breaking new parts. I removed the control panel using a putty knife and unplugged the wire to the latch switch. Then I remove 3 screws securing the washer's top panel to the back panel. I had a problem with the drain pump on my Kenmore HE3 and I replaced it using a drain pump I ordered from APP. That fixed that problem but once I started running the washer I started getting a FH error code. I looked it up and found that it was a problem with the washer not filling properly. I pulled the washer out and found that one of the fill hoses had kinked when I pushed the washer back in place. There was also some writing on the hose that read "Change hose every five years". I know I had... Read more

Fixing the problem was quite simple. First, I removed the lid assembly (thanks to the diagrams supplied by AppliancePartsPros.com!). Getting the back two screws out was very difficult because I couldn't see them from the front and I could not move the unit out of the enclosed space. After some trial and error, I located the screws which were 5/16 hex head screws and removed them with a MAGNETIC nut driver. (The magnet assures that the screw will not drop down into the mechanism). Second, I... Read more
