The dryer is a Kenmore Laundry Center, model 417-99570150. Bought in 1998, so it is an older model. Not wanting to buy the newer ones that are out now. We opted to fix the Kenmore. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Drum stopped turning loud 60 hz hum from motor   James S. • Winchester , TN • November 03, 2018

The very easy diagnosis was motor seizure. Because the machine is about a decade old, I decided to renovate most of the guts. My DIY project included replacing the motor, blower, drum bearing, belt, and door hinge. The end result is a functional dryer with no left-over parts. Lack of parts and hardware challenged the effort. For example, the blower assembly did not have the slide capture for the motor. I had to use the old one which is showing its age. With the exception of the drum... Read more

Being a complete DIY I hate to call some unknown person into my home knowing that just to get them there will cost me more than I will spend for parts that I don't need. After all, they are trying to make a living and by selling me parts that I don't need will increase their profits. I've dealt with APP before and was impressed by their site because I could find both mechanical and electrical drawings for almost everything I have. Spin Bearing Washer
Genuine Frigidaire part
By: Frigidaire
Part Number: 5308002401

The Spin Bearing Washer is an OEM part for Frigidaire washing machines. Situated inside the transmission housing, this thin metal washer acts as a subsurface support for the belt pulley bearing. The spin-bearing washer facilitates smooth, balanced rotation essential for agitated and spun wash cycles.

Causes of a bad spin-bearing washer include wear and fatigue from years of successive rotations, potentially allowing excessive movement between housing components.

Symptoms of a bad spin-bearing washer involve:

  • Vibration or shaking noises coming from inside the washer cabinet
  • Belt slippage wasting energy by inefficiently spinning loads
  • Increased friction resulting in longer cycle times for spins
  • Failure of belts or other components from unsupported bearing

This OEM Frigidaire part can also be used on Electrolux, Frigidaire, Gibson, Kelvinator, Westinghouse, and Sears/Kenmore.

This part fixes the following symptoms
  • Noisy

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Frigidaire dryer door would not stay closed   Carolina L. • Miami , FL • September 08, 2015

My dryer door would not stay shut because the door strike was stuck in the door catch. I was afraid that when I pulled the strike out, it would damage the catch, so I ordered the door strike and door catch. I got the damaged door strike out with needle nosed pliers in about 15 seconds. The door catch was in perfect condition so I didn't need to use the one I ordered. So then I proceeded to install the new door strike. That took me about 15 minutes because I did not have the manual strength to... Read more

Door Switch
Genuine Frigidaire part
By: Frigidaire
Part Number: 134813601

The Door Switch is an OEM part for Frigidaire dryers. This part ensures that the dryer operates safely by only allowing the machine to run when the door is completely closed. Positioned typically at the door frame, the switch activates when the door is shut, signaling the control system that it's safe to begin the cycle.

Over time, door switches can wear out or become damaged, which can interfere with the normal operation of the dryer.

Symptoms of a faulty Door Switch include:

  • The dryer not starting when the door is closed.
  • The dryer stopping unexpectedly, which might be due to a loose or faulty switch.
  • A lack of the usual "click" sound that indicates the door has latched properly, suggesting the switch isn’t engaging.
  • The dryer continuing to run when the door is opened, which poses a significant safety risk.

This OEM Frigidaire part is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator and some Kenmore models.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Dryer will start, run for a few second, then turn off. No error codes   John M. • Waikoloa , HI • April 03, 2014

By reading the forums I first thought it may be the thermostat. I bypassed the thermostat wiring and the dryer still turned off after a few second of running. The second check was for the door switch. I couldn't find an explanation of how to bypass, so I just ordered a new one to try. It worked. Read more

I found your site which was most helpful. I saw on your forum, that others had replaced a motor & capacitor with + results. I was willing to spend what I thought was a reasonable amount & your guarantee was the clincher.
