I replaced the Ice Dispenser Lever. Since the replacement part is only available in white and my fridge is bone, I replaced also the Water Dispenser Lever, so it looks much better. I followed the instructions in the video, which were very useful and very well done. My problem was that the refrigerator is a KitchenAid built-in, while the instructions were for a Whirlpool, so the removal of the faceplate was quite different from what was shown in the video and more difficult. This is a small coupling washer that connects the ice crusher drive mechanism in the refrigerator's freezer compartment. It transfers rotational force from the motor to the ice crushing blades, allowing the dispenser to crush ice properly. Replace this part if the ice dispenser runs but does not crush ice, makes grinding noises, or if the coupler appears worn, cracked, or stripped.

Replacement fastener screw for appliances. Secures panels, trim, clips, and components. Needed when original screws are stripped, missing, or damaged.
Removed the handle with two screws on the inside front and pulled out the custom wood panel. Pulled the compactor out from under cabinet. Tipped it over on back of unit, supporting it with a little foot stool. Unscrewed two lower screws at bottom of unit holding black trim panel (that held wood panel in place) and lower black rubber flap. The water dispenser stopped working on my Sears Kenmore (Whirlpool) side-by-side refrigerator and after much research on the web I purchased the parts that commonly failed for this condition. I should have first taken the dispenser assembly apart but I didn't--it looked a little too intimidating to do twice. Easy to remove the metal parts from the old bin. The only problem was that the screw that holds the adapter has red thread locker and screwdriver rounded off the head of the screw. Drilled the screw and heated the screw to loosen the thread locker and used an ease out to remove the screw. Read more
