Whenever the drawer was opened, it would fall of the guide rails. This lead to the drawer being crooked several times. I took the drawer out and noticed one of the glides was missing. Ordered a new pair, popped it on and now the drawer slides properly. Read more

Removed the handle with two screws on the inside front and pulled out the custom wood panel. Pulled the compactor out from under cabinet. Tipped it over on back of unit, supporting it with a little foot stool. Unscrewed two lower screws at bottom of unit holding black trim panel (that held wood panel in place) and lower black rubber flap. Replaced the ice maker. The kit came with everything I needed to replace the ice maker. Parts that did not come with the kit were re-used from the old one. My Whirlpool refrig/freezer is an older model so the wiring harness that came with the kit was different from my existing. I decided if one needed replacing I might as well both two--made sense to me. None were available locally so I ordered them on-line. Surprisingly they came sooner than I expected. I also found a video on the internet that clearly showed the procedure. The actual repairs took 15 minutes or less.
