I ordered a new switch from APP and fixed my fridge. However, the video posted for this repair on this site is not applicable to newer refrigerator models. I have a 2015 GE GTE18IHCRSS and had to drop the control housing (#432 in the diagram) to attach the wire/plug assembly to the switch. After disconnecting power to the fridge, I first removed the ice maker/water dispenser/fridge control faceplate. This easily popped out using a flat head screw driver. Then disconnected the 3 wire harness connections to the control board. I next removed the plastic dispenser housing shield. There's only 4 screws that hold this on. This was a two and half year issue as different things failed at different times. I would get one part, then another would fail. Ultimately, I got to a point where what failed, I hadn't been ordered the part yet. The seal on the freezer door took three bathing's before it plumped up and un-creased. The new slides fit perfectly. One thing to mention is that the slide rails come with the slide bearings so you do not need to buy those separate. When I called I was told I needed the bearings so I bought 3 assuming I would be able to salvage the others. Turns out I did not need them. Read more
