Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You All the leds on the front panel were off and there was water sitting in the bottom of the dishwasher from the previous cycle it appears the power was off to the unit   Ryan R. • Bedford , NH • October 24, 2015

I first verified the house panel circuit breaker was not tripped. It wasn't so I removed the bottom kick plate of the unit, using a circuit cricket I verified the power feed to the unit was live. The bottom kick plate had a trouble shooting guide in a plastic sleeve which I opened and reviewed. Based on information in there it appeared the TOC was likely the issue. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Wheels my top dishwasher rack fell off   Paul M. • Ramona , CA • September 11, 2020

Ordered the parts and followed the instruction videos that Sears provide, Initially tried to order parts from Sears directly but the web-page kept complaining about my shipping address. Their loss- no wonder they're going out of business. Also, should note that the original assembly was plastic but the replacement was metal. Sure sign of a crappy cost-cutting decision. First tried replacing the seal around the door as that was the simple and most logical fix. Still leaked. Removed the front and upper panel to inspect. The Insulation is an OEM part for Whirlpool dishwashers, specifically engineered to enhance the appliance's efficiency by reducing heat loss and minimizing noise. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Leaking from the bottom of the dishwasher   Chuck H. • Rochester Hills , MI • October 17, 2015

Removed and replaced diverter motor. Ops check good, no more leaking. I'm guessing the seal was the problem but diverter ruined (water residue) from leaking over the last 5 years??? This seal is only available if you buy the tub so followed another review - removed diverter then gently pried out the seal, cleaned and then lubed with silicone grease. Also turned the seal 180 degrees or the opposite way before reinstalling the diverter and then wrapping it all back under the counter. Read more

Nut
Genuine Whirlpool part

Nut

By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WPW10195038

The Nut is an OEM part for Whirlpool dishwashers. This nut secures the float switch, a key component in regulating the water level within the dishwasher. The float switch ensures your dishwasher does not overfill by triggering the water to stop once it reaches a certain level.

Over time and with regular use, the nut that holds the float switch in place can become loose or damaged. This could potentially allow water to seep through gaps, leading to leaks, or could cause the float switch to malfunction, affecting the dishwasher's ability to regulate water levels accurately.

Symptoms of a faulty Nut include:

  • Water leaks from the base of the dishwasher
  • The dishwasher overfills or underfills
  • Unusual noises during operation

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Dishes would't clean on the top rack and bottom dishes were wet   Rajasekhar R. • Warrenton , VA • August 02, 2015

I replaced the rear tube that feeds water to the top and middle spinners, and this appears to have fixed the problem. The middle spinner, which is attached to the bottom of the top rack, has a tube that connects to a hole in the middle of the rear tube. This hole has a rubber flap and I noticed that this flap was wide open. The tube under the tray has a straight edge protruding from it at the back. This edge pushes the flap open and I suspect that when the water is flowing, this edge rotates... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Machine running loud grew worse until it was obvious the motor blew a bearing   Robert S. • Bettendorf , IA • February 21, 2015

We initially noticed the dishwasher running loud and failing to completely clean dishes. Research suggested issues like this were normally caused by either the main circulation motor or the drain motor. Over the next week the noise worsened, and it became obvious that the circulation motor had went (loud whirring noise whenever the spin cycle kicked in). I watched a couple youtube videos on the removal and dissassembly until I felt confident that my wife and I could handle the project. For the... Read more

Removed bottom cover, located leak at float switch, removed and replaced float switch kit. The toughest part of the repair was removing the Float & Retainer Assembly (in the interior of the machine tank) which broke when I pushed it back and pulled it straight up as suggested in the service manual. The Float Switch Kit (attached to, and below the float, below and outside the tank) has a folding plastic cover which fastens with plastic clips. If you open the switch kit before removing the...
