This is a 25 year old built-in over-the-range appliance. Only previous problem was 1 failed door switch (of 3 total), replaced 2 years ago. First checked all 3 door switches with continuity tester, all ok. Had advice to check thermostat switches, which were all supposedly NC (normally closed), used same tester. This rivet assembly is a direct-replacement fastening piece used to secure appliance panels and components, restoring a stable, rattle-free fit and preventing movement caused by worn or broken rivets. What it does:
I replaced the stirrer fan cover and fan, which had some carbon and slight burn marks on it. It was difficult to remove the fan cover as it did not rotate. I had to pry it off with a flat blade screwdriver, breaking the plastic tabs on the cover (which was being discarded anyway). I then cleaned any visible carbon deposits and replaced the cover and fan, using the old stirrer fan holder as it appeared OK. Microwave runs but won't heat? This magnetron generates the RF energy that cooks food. Moderate DIY repair, typically completed in about an hour.
After some research, and based on the symptoms, consulted with repair person and figured it was the most common 3 parts (magnetron, capacitance, diode, and threw in a new fuse). So spent $190, and service tech came, replaced them, all good again. All done in an hour. Read more
Microwave won't heat or power on? This bottom thermal cut-off protects against overheating by cutting power when excess heat is detected. Easy fix.
Simple fix, after determining the fuse was good and not getting voltage to it, I followed the schematic and tested the TCO. It was the problem. Ordered it from APP and received it 5 days later. Changed the part and Voila, Microwave back in action. Read more
Secures microwave components and mounting brackets. Replace this hardware assembly if screws are stripped, bolts are missing, or fasteners are damaged.
Removed the dozen or so screws on the microwave cabinet housing (top & 2 sides). Removed the 2 screws from the assembly holder hut bracket and replaced the assembly holder nut with a new one and re-installed the 2 screws. Re-installed the dozen or so screws on the cabinet. Finally re-installed the microwave with the 2 new 3-7/8'" long bolts thru the kitchen cabinet. Read more

Connects the turntable motor to the glass tray in your microwave. Replace if cracked, broken, or worn to restore smooth rotation and prevent slipping.
Unplug your microwave. Took the screws off of the bottom of the unit with it still on the cabinet. The whole bottom panel swung down to expose the turntable motor. I took the power cable loose (just pull it off). It was one screw to take the motor out. Word to the wise: DON'T try to take the plastic coupler off before the motor. Their is a tab that holds it in while the motor is in place. If you pry it up you will break it, trust me. ;) Turn the motor out of its housing and it come right out.... Read more

Went to the GE website and found the diagram and operating manuals for my model of microwave . Located the necessary parts that needed to be replaced and then purchased them on AppliancePartsPros.com at a savings.
