First I watched some DIY videos for familiarization and safety. I bought a 28 Ohms resistor and rigged some wires and aligator clips and discharged the accumulated energy from the capacitor. Took out the magnetron and even when it showed good continuity I discarded it due to sings of been overheated. I had replaced the door switches a few years ago for the same problem. I figured it must be the door switches. Removed the cover & found one of the plastic clips on the door actuator (lock) that holds the top door switch in place was snapped off. (The actuator (lock) is the black plastic component that holds all the door switches). The top door switch was not being engaged when the door was closed because it was not secured in place.
