Magnetron
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WB27X10682

The Magnetron is an OEM replacement part for GE microwaves. It is responsible for generating the microwave energy used for cooking and heating food. Over time, magnetrons can wear down and become less effective.

Symptoms of a bad Magnetron include:

  • The microwave not heating food, even though it turns on and the timer counts down
  • Unusual noises, such as a loud hum or buzz, during operation
  • Burnt smells or smoke emanating from the microwave
  • Error codes on the microwave’s display indicating a heating issue

Causes for a malfunctioning Magnetron can include a burnt-out magnetron, issues with the high-voltage diode that powers it, or problems with the control board that regulates its operation

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Microwave did not heat   Edgardo G. • Mobile , AL • August 09, 2016

First I watched some DIY videos for familiarization and safety. I bought a 28 Ohms resistor and rigged some wires and aligator clips and discharged the accumulated energy from the capacitor. Took out the magnetron and even when it showed good continuity I discarded it due to sings of been overheated. I reinstalled a new magnetron ( part # w27x10597 ) and a Diode HV Ass ( part # wb27x10682 ) for a total of about $ 143.00 including shipping cost. This price against a quoted price of $ 225.00... Door Latch (Lock)
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WB06X10498

This door latch engages the microwave's interlock system when the door closes so the unit can operate only when sealed. Replacing a worn or broken latch restores proper door closure and reliable, safe startup.

  • Engages the door interlock switches to allow operation only when closed
  • Keeps the door secured and properly aligned
  • Helps resolve issues like "Open/Close Door" messages or the unit not starting
  • Typical symptoms include a door that won't latch, pops open, or requires pressure to start

What's included: 1 door latch Install notes:

  • Disconnect power at the breaker or unplug before servicing; microwaves contain high-voltage components
  • Access is typically through the door's inner trim; use non-marring tools to release clips and swap the latch
  • If over-the-range, support the unit and avoid twisting the door to maintain alignment
  • After replacement, verify the door closes smoothly and the oven recognizes the door as closed

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Had power to my microwave clock on touchpad on timer on but it would not heat   Terence M. • Long Beach , CA • April 23, 2017

I had replaced the door switches a few years ago for the same problem. I figured it must be the door switches. Removed the cover & found one of the plastic clips on the door actuator (lock) that holds the top door switch in place was snapped off. (The actuator (lock) is the black plastic component that holds all the door switches). The top door switch was not being engaged when the door was closed because it was not secured in place. Ordered a new actuator (lock) from Appliacepartspros.com... Read more

Thermostat Magnetron
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WB27X10567

This microwave magnetron thermostat is an authentic OEM part sourced directly from the manufacturer. It is used in microwave ovens to prevent fires and extensive damage to the machine if the magnetron overheats. If the thermostat reaches an unsafe temperature, determined by the factory, it will stop the microwave from cooking. If this happens, the magnetron thermostat may be the culprit and should be replaced. A built-in safety feature will prevent the microwave from working until the thermostat is replaced. To start, disconnect the power from the microwave. Use a screwdriver to remove the trim kit. Use a safety drill bit to remove the microwave panels. Locate the thermostat that is connected to the magnetron. To start, disconnect the wires and remove the thermometer from the microwave. Install the new thermostat and connect the wires. Reassemble the microwave and reconnect the power. Test to make sure the power works with the new thermostat installed. This magnetron thermometer is an electrical part that is sold individually. It is designed for use in microwave ovens manufactured by General Electric and Hotpoint.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The turntable motor needed replaced   Jean E. • Mooresville , NC • May 09, 2014

My husband and I purchased the turntable motor through AppliancePartsPros.com, which was a deal compared to other companies. We made the project much more difficult than it had to be. We have a built-in GE Profile Spacemaker, which of course, is built-in, to our cabinetry. We removed the microwave without incident, but we were a bit confused which part of the bottom panel to remove. There was a circular, metal "plate" covering - what we strongly believed was - the motor. However, since this was... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Wife caught it on fire!   Randall D. • La Mesa , CA • July 03, 2015

First, please learn how to judge what "Uhhh, Uhhh" means from your wife. Then look over to at what she is apparently looking at to see fire inside one of the microwaves. Walk over, open the door, pick up the on fire newspaper and dump it in the sink. She had placed the folded newspaper up against the emitter. It caught the newspaper on fire and burned a hole through the plastic emitter cover. Besides blackening the inside a bit, it the repair was just replacing the cover. The cover just... Read more
