Controls gas flow to individual cooktop burners on gas ranges. Replace if valve stem is bent, broken, or stuck, preventing smooth knob operation or shutoff.

In an attempt to clean the range from the grease-gunk build-up, I had to remove the burner heads. Bought and installed new hinges. Repair took about an hour but I also cleaned all the glass inside and out on both oven doors. I had ordered extra screws as I read the old ones that hold the hinges were hard to get in as they were self taping but the screw labeled 5 next to the hinge were not the right ones. Burner won't turn off or ignite? This manifold assembly distributes gas to all control valves. Moderate DIY install—use leak detection fluid.
Replaced complete manifold. Decided to change manifold because one of the other valves was starting to bind and cost wasn't much more for manifold versus one valve. Fairly easy to do. Just make sure you use leak detection fluid after to check that your connection is not leaking. Had to remove top to get at spark wiring connector under rear area of cover. Fix burners that won't light or spark intermittently with a new surface burner igniter. Most DIYers complete this repair in 20 minutes with basic tools.
I disassembled the top of the range and looked at the problem burner. It looked like there was a spark at all three other burners but not the problem burner. There was a visible spark at the connector between the wiring harness and the ceramic igniter but that spark wasn't making it up to the top of the igniter where it can light the burner.
