Refrigerator not cooling or freezing? A faulty start relay prevents the compressor from running. This kit fixes humming compressors in about 20 minutes.
Took access panel off the back of the refrigerator with 1/4 inch nut driver and found that the compressor was not running properly (humming and hot but not compressing). The compressor cooling fan was working as well as the fan in the freezer compartment. I fixed the same problem with another refrigerator by replacing the relay and start capacitor on the compressor. Replaced the ice maker. The kit came with everything I needed to replace the ice maker. Parts that did not come with the kit were re-used from the old one. My Whirlpool refrig/freezer is an older model so the wiring harness that came with the kit was different from my existing. Watched the video on how to replace. Ordered new roller, which was delivered in just a couple of days. Since the roller had broke, I was unable to roll out the refrigerator, so I tilted the refrigerator back and placed a small furniture slider under the roller frame to prevent gouging the wood floor. I had to cut down the length of the bar using a Dremel so that it would fit into the channels, it was originally too wide to fit into the fridge. One thing to note, only cut it as wide as the actual fridge; you can get it into the plastic shelf structure by sliding it too much into one side, and then guiding it into the other side. Read more
