I looked inside and saw the teeth were worn off the "dogs" so I purchased the Cam Agitator repair kit and a new bolt. Getting the old bolt out was the hardest part since it was worn and rusted. I ended up having to buy a set of socket extensions and a set of stripped bolt sockets so $45 in tools and it took me an hour to get the old bolt out but putting everything back together was a breeze. This is a resistive heating element that generates the hot air used to dry clothes in the dryer drum. It consists of a coiled wire mounted within a metal housing. Replace this part if your dryer runs but does not produce heat, takes much longer than normal to dry clothes, or if the element coil is visibly broken or damaged.

Dryer drum won't spin or turn? A failed drive motor is often the cause. This motor drives the belt that rotates the drum. Moderately difficult repair.
At first I changed the rollers but that did not fix the problem so I suspected the motor. Purchased the motor then the blower wheel would not come off. The metal sleeve in the middle of the blower wheels was on the motor so tight that the plastic wheel was just spinning on it. Bought a blower wheel and used a hole saw to cut the old wheel off. Luckily, the hole in the fan shroud that the motor shaft goes through is big enough that I was able to slide the motor out with the metal sleeve still on... Read more

Our 19 year old Whirlpool dryer quit heating. After checking the thermal fuse, I found the ignitor electrically open.
