If your dryer won't heat or flame won't stay lit, a corroded burner tube may be the cause. This assembly includes an adjustable air shutter for proper combustion.
I removed the kick panel/door and confirmed there was no flame. Inspection with a flashlight revealed the igniter was damage - partly broken away. Using a 1/4" socket set I removed the burner assembly. Inspection showed the burner was rusted and the flame deflector had fallen off. I ordered both the "Dryer Igniter and Bracket" and a burner. They arrived in about three days. I had to attach the igniter to the bracket (one screw) and then the bracket to the burner (one screw). The only... Read more

Replacement flip-up door that covers the lint screen opening in your dryer's front bulkhead. Needed when original door is cracked, broken, or missing.
There is no good diagram explaining how exactly these fit in. I had to do trial and error. The parts are quite delicate so I actually broke one trying to get it in. I would recommend ordering an extra or two. These need springs tonfit correctly. Luckily I saved the old ones...if you don't have them, it won't work. Unscrew the two screws on outside and two inside. You don't have to take whole thing out, just loosen. Look carefully and you can see the two little holes in the plastic where... Read more
Fix F4/E4 error codes or a dryer that won't start with this main control board. Manages cycle timing and drum operation. Moderate DIY repair.
Symptom: The dryer's control panel would light up; however, the drum would not start. A diagnostic test showed "F4/E4." (Note: This dryer has no history of issues and worked flawlessly for almost a decade prior to this problem.) I researched the problem online. I found that it could be as simple as a faulty Thermal Fuse (WP3392519//AP6008325) or as difficult as several bad components, to include the aforementioned Thermal Fuse, the Thermistor (WP8577274//AP6013514), and/or the Electronic... I looked inside and saw the teeth were worn off the "dogs" so I purchased the Cam Agitator repair kit and a new bolt. Getting the old bolt out was the hardest part since it was worn and rusted. I ended up having to buy a set of socket extensions and a set of stripped bolt sockets so $45 in tools and it took me an hour to get the old bolt out but putting everything back together was a breeze. I was very proud of myself, as a woman, that I fixed this problem myself and didnt have to pay a repair... Read more

After shopping for a new Whirlpool Thin Twin Stack, Found appliance parts pros online and decided to take it apart to see if repair was a possibility. Dryer drum won't spin or turn? A failed drive motor is often the cause. This motor drives the belt that rotates the drum. Moderately difficult repair.
At first I changed the rollers but that did not fix the problem so I suspected the motor. Purchased the motor then the blower wheel would not come off. The metal sleeve in the middle of the blower wheels was on the motor so tight that the plastic wheel was just spinning on it. Bought a blower wheel and used a hole saw to cut the old wheel off. Luckily, the hole in the fan shroud that the motor shaft goes through is big enough that I was able to slide the motor out with the metal sleeve still on... Read more
