After having a technician come to look at my washer, diagnosing the problem, and then not having the part to fix it (which would've taken another week or so after the washer was down at this point for a week and a half) I decided I could fix it myself. I disassembled my dryer and found that the fan(blower wheel) was "free-spinning" on the motor shaft. A common problem with this model Maytag dryer. I also discovered that the right drum roller (drum support roller) was in the process of failing.
