My KitchenAid refrigerator was not cooling, but the freezer was working perfectly. The help section here listed three parts that could be defective–defrost thermostat, evaporator fan motor and blade, and air diffuser/damper control–so I replaced them all. • Noisy

I pulled the refrigerator out, removed the back panel, disconnected the fan motor. I did not know how hard or easy it would be to remove the fan from the motor shaft so I removed the motor with the fan attached and then removed and replaced the fan. This would not be necessary if you have a lot of strength, but if you need leverage to push the fan down on the shaft you might want to disconnect and remove the motor fan assembly too. Plastic drum was broken and wasn't pushing the ice through the crusher teeth. Received my part pronto and made the repair. Was an easy fix, took about 15 min from start to finish. I took the new seal out of it's packaging and used a blowdryer on low heat to soften up the seal so that the crease from shipping (it was folded to ship) disappeared. Next I took the refrigerator door off, removed the old seal, & cleaned the area where the new seal would be applied. Replaced Case Water Filter assembly DA81-05883A. Please read my post entirely before starting. I completed all the tasks that I could without having to disconnect the refrigerator since it was full of food. First I removed the panel on top of the refrigerator that covers the water line that feeds the dispenser. Do not disconnect any electrical connections or the water line at this time. Replaced filter cap with new one. The minor challenge was to find a method of pulling the filter out of refrigerator (which is normally done by pulling on the filler cap. The filter was recessed to far into the refrigerator for me to be able attach the new cap. I had to find another tactic to remove the filter. • Leaking

The drain pan (Tray-Evaporator Pan) was cracked in 2 places. We had to remove the front panel. Loosen the bracket that holds the water filter. Take off the back panel and disconnect the bracket that holds the selenoid. It was not necessary to unhook the water lines, just the bracket. It was not easy to remove the old pan and get the new one in, but holding the water filter, with the bracket intact, as far to the left side of the refrigerator as possible gave us the room to get the pan in. ... This was actually one of the easiest fixes I’ve done. All that was required was to remove 3 screws to remove the broken part. I used a pair of pliers to remove the moisture sensors from the broken part to the new one. Read more
