This kit includes the splutch pulley and cam assembly used in the washer's drive system to engage the spin and agitate modes. The splutch mechanism sits beneath the outer tub and works with the drive motor to switch between washing and spinning cycles. Replace this kit if the washer fails to agitate, won't spin, or makes grinding or clicking noises during operation.

I had to cut the old agitator out with an oscillating saw in order to access the agitator drive. This is the second Maytag (MVWC 565) I have had to do this to. I first tried removing it by sliding straps under the agitator then then using a jack to pull it loose which did not work either time.
