Spin Tube Thrust Washer
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WP63292

The Spin Tube Thrust Washer is an OEM component for Whirlpool washing machines. It is a washer that fits around the agitator shaft and helps create a seal between the agitator shaft and the aluminum tub. This washer allows the agitator to spin freely during the wash and spin cycles without causing excessive vibration or noise.

Symptoms of a bad spin tube thrust washer include:

  • Noises like banging or clunking coming from the agitator area
  • Shaking or vibrating of the washer tub during spinning

Causes of a bad thrust washer include normal wear and tear after extended use. Exposure to extended periods of unbalanced loads can also put excessive strain on the washer components and lead to premature failure of the thrust washer seal.

This replacement part is also compatible with select Kenmore, Maytag, KitchenAid, and Jenn-Air models.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You No spin every thing else worked made high speed ticking noise   Anthony D. • Follansbee , WV • May 12, 2015

First I looked at the many you tube vids, and there are many. appliance parts pros pretty much shows you how to deal with the parts. I changed the brake shoes and the clutch assembly which also comes with the driver cam. I also changed the metal brake operating cam. I think that brake lockup or improper brake release was the problem that broke the plastic cam driver. This was the broken plastic part making all the ticking noise. I first changed the coupling on the motor but that wasn't bad. in... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Tub out of alignment violent wobbling during spin cycle   Stephani W. • Folsom , CA • January 29, 2018

When I removed the cabinet, all of the springs appeared in tact, I had already replaced the counter balance spring so I knew that was not the issue. None of the suspension springs or brackets were broken but they did look worn/rusty so I replaced all of the brackets (2 in front and 1 large in back), all of the suspension spring retainers, and all of the suspension springs and it fixed the issue! I plan to also replace the Self leveling leg spring which is an easy fix since it's on the back of... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Agitator drive failed   W J. • Panama City Beach , FL • February 26, 2023

I had to cut the old agitator out with an oscillating saw in order to access the agitator drive. This is the second Maytag (MVWC 565) I have had to do this to. I first tried removing it by sliding straps under the agitator then then using a jack to pull it loose which did not work either time. One suggestion I have would be to remove debris from tub as you cut in order to prevent it from dropping from the inner tub into the outer tub. Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Leak (found to be tub seal) and extreme spin vibration.   Paul H. • Lakewood , CA • June 26, 2021

First, DO NOT call Sears for parts, their call center knows nothing about the product. App-Pros are the best for help and the right parts. I figured to repair, replace all seals and any item that shows need to and all items that have to do with the spin that may be bad. Repair videos great help. I will start from the "bottom" up, the repairs were not done in this order, just a list of what I did and notes. Replaced-- motor drive coupling, (checked out transmission ok), thrust washer,... Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Leaking water   Jeffrey M. • Medina , OH • November 15, 2014

I had previously replaced the transmission in my two year old Whirlpool Cabrio washing machine. Overall it was in good shape but gets heavy use. That repair was approximately $200 and worked for several months. Recently it began leaking. At first I thought it was the tub-to-shaft seal. I replaced this part but it was still leaking. It turns out it was the simplest of things... The drain hose was not connected very well! I replaced the drain hose ($11 part) and while I was at it I... Read more
