Refrigerator Ice Maker Fill Cup
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WR29X10109

Small funnel-shaped component in the ice maker that directs water into ice molds during the filling process. Replace if the ice maker produces hollow, small, or irregularly shaped ice cubes.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Ice jamming fill cup coming off   Mark H. • Glendale , AZ • February 29, 2016

Replaced the stripper and fill cup - turns out that the fill cup came with the locking tab broken off. The stripper had a missing paddle, and ice cubes would jam and shut down the ice maker periodically. Let the ice maker warm up after you remove it so the plastic is not so brittle. You have to pry the old stripper out. Make sure the new one locks all across the front. My refrigerator has the ice maker mount toe the side instead of from the hangers in back. I wasn't sure how to remove it,... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Several broken tray/drawer pieces needing replacement   David C. • San Diego , CA • January 11, 2018

Used the schematic provided to select the parts needing replacement and placed the order. Parts arrived and swapping new for old was simple. For the most part it was a matter of taking out the old and putting in the new. There were a few screws with wheels to replace but that was easy as well. Before purchase I searched several different sites and found all the parts needed. I compared prices of each item as well as shipping cost. Prices for each item were nearly identical between sites... Temperature Sensor Seal
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WR02X10668

The Temperature Sensor Seal is an OEM part for GE refrigerators. This seal is designed to protect the temperature sensor from moisture and other environmental factors that could affect its accuracy and longevity. By providing a barrier against the harsh conditions within a refrigerator, such as humidity and temperature fluctuations, this seal ensures that the sensor can accurately monitor and control the refrigerator's internal temperature.

Causes of a malfunctioning Temperature Sensor Seal can include wear and tear over time, degrading the seal's effectiveness. Physical damage like tears or punctures can allow moisture to reach the sensor. Improper installation may leave gaps or loose areas around the sensor, compromising the seal.

Symptoms of a bad Temperature Sensor Seal include:

  • Inaccurate temperature readings.
  • Condensation or frost near the sensor location.
  • Frequent cycling or unusual patterns in the refrigerator's cooling process.

This OEM GE part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Helix (Ice Bucket Auger)
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WR17X11457

This helix is the plastic spiral inside the refrigerator's ice bucket that works with the auger to move ice toward the crusher and dispenser. Replacing a worn or broken helix restores smooth ice dispensing and reduces jams.

  • Surrounds the auger shaft in the ice bucket to advance cubes toward the crusher/chute
  • Engages when the dispenser is activated to feed ice consistently
  • Replace if cracked, stripped, or warped
  • Symptoms may include little or no ice dispensing, intermittent dispensing, or grinding noises from the bucket
What's included: One helix Installation notes:
  • Unplug the refrigerator and wear cut-resistant gloves; crusher blades are sharp
  • Remove and empty the ice bucket; note the order/orientation of blades, spacers, and washers during disassembly
  • Transfer components to the new helix in the same sequence; reuse existing hardware
  • After reassembly, verify the auger turns smoothly by hand before reinstalling and testing

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Ice dispenser failure   Craig D. • Saint Louis , MO • July 21, 2015

Ice was not being dispensed when lever was pushed in either crushed or cubed mode I removed the ice bin. After searching the web for reasons for this I pulled the bin out and started looking at auger assembly. I noticed that the sections of the Helix blades were missing. The whole process took about an hour and as others have noted, you have to disassemble the bin assembly to get the auger assembly out. I watched the video... Read more

Ice Deflector Spring
Genuine Ge part
By: Ge
Part Number: WR02X11768

The Ice Deflector Spring is an OEM replacement part for GE refrigerators. This spring is a crucial component of the ice dispensing system, specifically in selecting between crushed and whole ice cubes. It is designed to always force the diverter back in a way that the cubes get crushed. When whole cubes are selected, the solenoid pulls the lever against the spring’s tension to shift the configuration, allowing cubes to bypass the crusher blades.

Causes for a malfunctioning Ice Deflector Spring can include wear and tear from regular use, corrosion due to constant exposure to moisture, or mechanical failure that prevents it from effectively reverting the diverter to the crushed ice configuration.

Symptoms of a bad Ice Deflector Spring include:

  • The ice dispenser only dispensing whole cubes, even when crushed ice is selected
  • The diverter not returning to the crushed ice configuration
  • Unusual sounds during the ice dispensing process
  • The need for manual intervention to get crushed ice

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Not dispensing ice, making loud noise   Dennis V. • Parker , CO • March 24, 2020

When I took it apart I found that the drive cup was cracked, the helix lock plate hole was reamed out and the ice deflector spring was broken. The biggest problem was the helix had slipped down the shaft and allowed the end of the shaft to bore a hole in the housing which made it a bear to get out. Others have had the same problem. Once I got past that obstacle, it was simple to replace all the parts and it's working like normal again. Very helpful video explaining the repair. Read more
