The repair took less than 5 minutes. It is too bad that just the rubber seal is not available. Seems wasteful to have to replace the whole tube when nothing else was wrong with it. Replaced the heating element as shown in the video. Repaired a bad connector on the wire leading to the heating element. The clean light still flashed 3 times. Determined that the thermal fuse also needed to be replaced. Replaced the thermal fuse as shown in the video. The clean light now flashed 7 times which I discovered meant that the control panel needed to be reset. I then reset the control panel by pressing the buttons: normal, heated dry, normal, heated dry. Ordered dishwasher rack tine tips and bottle of vinyl touch up paint. I applied the paint to each tine and then placed the tips on the tines. I waited a few hours before using my dishwasher to allow the paint to dry and allow the tips to stick to the tines. Read more

This is the door latch assembly for a dishwasher, finished in black. It secures the door in the closed position and signals the control board that the door is properly latched so the wash cycle can begin.
