I looked inside and saw the teeth were worn off the "dogs" so I purchased the Cam Agitator repair kit and a new bolt. Getting the old bolt out was the hardest part since it was worn and rusted. I ended up having to buy a set of socket extensions and a set of stripped bolt sockets so $45 in tools and it took me an hour to get the old bolt out but putting everything back together was a breeze. This is a resistive heating element that generates the hot air used to dry clothes in the dryer drum. It consists of a coiled wire mounted within a metal housing. Replace this part if your dryer runs but does not produce heat, takes much longer than normal to dry clothes, or if the element coil is visibly broken or damaged.

Dryer not heating? A blown thermal cut-off is a common cause. This safety fuse opens if overheating occurs. Test with a multimeter for continuity.
The first part we ordered was the heating element. The dryer still wasn't heating so we ordered the thermostat. We received the thermostat, and got it put in the dryer still wasn't heating so I consulted my dryer manual and found out that even though there was electric to the dryer it still might not heat if the breaker was not all the way on, so I reset the breaker and voilà had heat. This electric drive motor rotates the dryer drum and in many models also powers the blower fan to circulate heated air through the drum. It mounts to the dryer base and connects to the drum via a belt and to the blower via a direct shaft connection. Replace it if the dryer hums but won't turn, makes loud grinding or squealing noises, or fails to start altogether.
If I opened door and held door switch, started dryer, turned drum by hand, quickly closed door and pushed start again before drum stopped turning, dryer worked fine.
