Freezer was cold but refrigerator was warm Beth M. • Marengo , IL • August 06, 2018
After we moved into our new home, we realized that the freezer was very cold and the fins were frosting over, and the refrigerator wasn't cold. We had to take it apart and manually defrost it about once every 8 to 10 days. After research online, we found Appliance Parts Pros videos, which clearly explained how to fix it ourselves, a savings of at least $1,000 or more, since a new one of this size would have been in the arena of $1,200 to $2000. We ordered the three most likely parts to be bad,...

Bake unit cracked and started glowing and sparking like the sun both elements replaced Steven S. • Somerset , KY • April 21, 2015
Easy fix. Both elements replaced while I was at it, so all new. Figured if one went the other was going to follow.
CIRCUIT BREAKER OFF. Removed the back metal panel with my nut driver for the hex head screws. Note where the panel may slip under tabs for support. Remove slip on electrical connections on upper and lower elements. May need a pliers. (I did not want to just pull the element and the wires into the oven with the element and remove them there, like a technician would do. After 15...

The Defrost Heater is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool French door refrigerators. It is an electric heating element strategically placed within the refrigerator compartment and freezer liners. This component aids in preventing excessive moisture buildup from condensation formed during normal operation.
Causes for heater failure include standard component degradation from prolonged use. Exposure to moisture accumulating over time can damage wiring insulation or short-circuit coil filaments as well.
Symptoms of an inadequate defrost heater involve:
- Frost buildup interfering with door seals and interior shelving
- Promotion of mold/mildew growth from sustained dampness
- Food spoilage risks due to the inability to regulate proper humidity
This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

The large surface element switch has bad and the connection wire was shorting out Everette P. • Grand Prairie , TX • September 03, 2017
I replaced the large surface element first before examining the switch. In hindsight I probably only need to replace the large surface switch. Once I open the back of the control area of the stove the blacked switch and wire made in obvious that the trouble was in the connection and switch. Luckily, I had a new contact to rewire the wiring as the old was burnt badly. After cutting it out and connecting a new one and replacing the switch the problem was fixed.

Baking element not working Paul C. • Wasilla , AK • February 16, 2017
Turns out these wall ovens have a pretty common problem, the baking element relay on the back of the control board solder joint fails. We have had this happen on several units recently as we manage several apt complexes. So it was not the baking element at all, just faulty solder joints or something makes the baking element relay lose its solder connection.
