This is a genuine OEM replacement o-ring sourced directly from the manufacturer for use on range vent hood switches. The o-ring provides a tight seal for the switch and keeps smoke from escaping through the switch connection. If the o-ring becomes worn or damaged, the vent will not remove smoke during cooking and should be replaced. Heat and debris pulled through the vent may cause the o-ring to warp. O-rings are not designed to last forever and may need to be replaced during the life of the appliance to keep it functioning correctly. To start, disconnect the power to the vent hood and dismantle the vent in order to reach the switch. To start, disconnect the switch and locate the o-ring. Remove the old one and dispose of it. Place the new o-ring in the groove and press firmly to seal the part. Lubrication is not necessary for installing the new o-ring. Reassemble the switch and put the vent hood back in place. Connect the power and try the switch to make sure it works. This o-ring is made of heavy-duty black rubber is and sold individually. It is designed for use in range hoods manufactured by Thermidor.
