Keypad Parts

I read about the particular error code on blogs online. Most people agreed that it was the keypad membrane that was not working. I have never done any repairs on an appliance, but YouTube had great videos of someone changing out that particular part. I could have ordered the part for less through an appliance supply store locally, but they did not offer any return option on electronics. • Touchpad does not respond

I looked online for possible repair solutions when the range would not turn off. I found that the membrane switch goes bad on these models. I looked online for available parts and Appliance Parts Pros had the item in stock. I ordered and it was here the next day. After receiving the part, again, I looked online for how to replace the membrane switch and youtube video walked me through the steps. It took about an hour and now it works like new. Read more

The oven control panel went in easily -- 4 screws to get access to it and four more to replace it. the panel does not include the face plate surface, but the existing plate can be removed from the control panel using a butter knife and re-used on the new panel. it holds on to enough of the stickiness. A very common problem with the GE oven is the dreaded F7 error code. I purchased the control board as well as the keypad and replaced both. The error code could have been either part but since I saw a lot of grease, I chose to change out both even though I isolated the problem to the keypad only. By resetting the error first by hitting the clock button on the keypad, turning off the power,disconnecting the keypad, then turning back on the power if the code doesn't come back it's the keypad. ... So, this is a common problem, and the fourth time I have done this for someone in by neighborhood. Takes about 10 minutes, and requires very little skill. You simply unscrew the oven from it's mount points, pull it out a little bit, remove the four sheet metal screws holding the panel in place, unplug electronics, and plug the new panel in. Ordered a new Oven Control unit and an Overlay (ours was punctured in a few places -- old and brittle). Opened the stovetop and removed some screws from the front control panel area.
