A very common problem with the GE oven is the dreaded F7 error code. I purchased the control board as well as the keypad and replaced both. The error code could have been either part but since I saw a lot of grease, I chose to change out both even though I isolated the problem to the keypad only. By resetting the error first by hitting the clock button on the keypad, turning off the power,disconnecting the keypad, then turning back on the power if the code doesn't come back it's the keypad. ... The oven control panel went in easily -- 4 screws to get access to it and four more to replace it. the panel does not include the face plate surface, but the existing plate can be removed from the control panel using a butter knife and re-used on the new panel. it holds on to enough of the stickiness. So, this is a common problem, and the fourth time I have done this for someone in by neighborhood. Takes about 10 minutes, and requires very little skill. You simply unscrew the oven from it's mount points, pull it out a little bit, remove the four sheet metal screws holding the panel in place, unplug electronics, and plug the new panel in. Ordered the part on line, rec. in record time, open the front panel of the dishwasher, unplugged the cable, replaced with new one by plugging into the connector. Help was needed only to hold the panels for lining up the screw hols, and secure couple screws on either side. Max. 15 minutes, from the time of opening the package.
