I think I have a lemon of a dryer. I keep having to pay someone to replace my heating element about every year. So I already had the heating element, but I thought I would replace the thermostat and the limiter also. Yes, I am a 46 year old mom, and I replaced all three items. Thank goodness to youtube! Ha! Checked and cleaned vent which was in need of cleaning, but not too bad (I do not consider this a primary causal detail, but can be a problem, so clean yours). Replaced Hi-Limit Thermostat (safety thermostat) after confirming the circuit was open with ohm meter. While I was in there, I completely cleaned the heater and ducting and internal workings of the dryer. Purchased, Igniter Kit, Gas Valve Coil Kit, and as a precaution Thermal Fuse and Cutoff-Tml. Was pretty confident the problem was the gas valve coil, but figured that why not just replace the other items while I had the unit apart. Replaced heating element and thermostat, took me about 2 hours but that's because i had to vacuum out the dryer inside and I also checked the fan before I closed the dryer back up. I have a Samsung DV448AAEP. Works great and saved my family money! Read more

Looked at the diagnostic help on Appliance Parts Pros.com and the start switch was the problem, but only 25% of the time, so I was a little concerned it may be a different problem. Replaced the inlet control thermis (thermostat) . Now it completes the cycle but clothes are not 100 % dry. I would add 15 minutes more and that helps. The timer knob simply pulls off the shaft with a solid, steady pull. Cleaned the timer cavity of lint/dust buildup. Aligned the keying flat of the shaft and knob and pushed the new knob on with careful, steady pressure until it was obviously seated. No tools required other than a vacuum. The door switch would sometimes not shut the dryer off when the door was opened. New switch came with new fast-on connectors. I was trying to troubleshot a problem I had with my GE dryer not starting. I went to AppliancePartsPros.com because they have excellent DYI videos on how to make repairs. I determined that the problem was in the push start switch. I ordered the switch online and it took 3 days to arrive. It took 5 minutes to replace the switch and the dryer works perfectly. Read more
